Setting the Prompt in windows 2000

Ok I wanted to set the prompt to something other than $p$g...I thought I could go into Environmental Variables and just change the Prompt variable there, but I didn't see it. Somebody else in this forum told me to do that too, and he probably thought I was an idiot for not being able to. But then when I went to the command prompt and typed set...there it was I saw the prompt=$p$g. What's up with that?

Well I'm actually not sure if that is true. But I am saying when I go to the environment variables tab, I don't even see a Prompt variable for me to edit. Whereas if i went to through cmd.exe and typed "set", there it was. Prompt=$p$g...go figure.
