I allowed my newsreader to download a bunch of MP3's overnight and SETI just didn't accomplish anything while that was going on.

I am using SetiSpy to keep my SETI running and sending data to SetiQueue?
Are there any other programs that function simular to SetiSpy, yet allow you to set the nice-ness of the process?

I am currently running DirecPC, SetiQueue, WinRoute, Maesto and SetiSpy on my machine.
The Maestro controls the wireless connections in my house.

Thanks...Carl

SetiDriver will allow you to (sorta) control the priority of the SETI client.

You might do best to run and cache WUs with SetiDriver on that machine. Then you can set process priority with SetiDriver... plus SetiDriver will work with Setispy. You can then leave Setiqueue to handle the other machines and/or can point SetiDriver to Setiqueue to have SetiDriver get its WUs from the queue.

The only problem with SetiDriver is that it doesn't ping the client to keep it alive.
I did manage to find a program called prcview that has a command line interface.
I added a scheduled task that once an hour sets the priority to normal, instead of idle.
Now if only SetiSpy would add priority.

newsreaders do tend to suck up a lot of computing power while decoding parts. it is possible that seti wouldn't have done much if set to normal, either.
