I'm using WinXP and I'd like to set passwords to gain access to certain folders and/or drives. Is there a built-in option or some 3rd party prog to do this? I guess I could set permissions and create different user accounts, but I'd rather not. TIA

This feature only works with a NTFS file system in XP and then you check the properties on the files/folders you want to limit and ssomewere there is a setting that states who may access these files/folders and set a password.

if you are not using NTFS and don't want to switch over, though i highly recommend it, there are other third party softwares that do what you are talking about.

check out www.download.com and i am sure you will find some software that will do what you want. good luck
