Do you ever do it ? Is there really any performance gain ?
Sometimes I convert videos (TMPGenc / VirtualDubMod / etc) ... would setting these apps to high priority make a difference ? All I'm doing otherwise is web browsing...
I set mediaplayerclassic to high. Because when i load web pages, it slows down and bugs the heck outta me. I have only had my rig crash once since doing it, but I am not sure if that was what caused the crashed.
It's a bad idea because the Windows process scheduler seems to give priorities above normal an extremely high amount of preference, so much so that if you have a CPU intensive process running above normal or high priority the normal or lower priority process will get virtually no CPU time.
