Setting default program files directory

See title.

I know how to do this in XP by editing the registry. However I am pretty new at Vista and I haven't been able to find this. (In fact, I haven't been able to find regedit yet)

I want to set default program files directory to a different partition than windows system files.

Thanks in advance

how can you not find regedit? just type it in the start menu search bar.

once you get in there its the same as xp.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion

In there, there should be a key called ?ProgramFilesDir?. Change the value to the path you want, but don?t add a slash at the end.
