Setting 4x and fastwrite off on a PCI-E card.

I saw a solution somewhere for the X1650XT where someone said that he put the card at 4x instead of 8x and put fastwrite to off. I have a PCI-E card and I don't know where to find those options.

What I suspect is that the card is overheating. And selecting something to cut down the bandwidth might solve the problem. Anybody know how to do that with a PCI-E card?

Also do I need to disable on-board video if I install a video card with a mobo that already has an IGP on it? I'm using a video card with a system and not sure if it conflicted, causing a crash.

That wouldn't affect the overheating at all.

Dust out your system, leave the case side open, put a house fan blowing into the case. That will cool the entire pc extremely well. This will tell you for sure if overheating is the problem or not.

That was odd. I put an 80mm fan on it and problems are gone.

As a matter of fact, I installed SP3 and I had like 5 extra points in 3DMark06. My machine is pretty rock-solid and reliable now.
