Anyone else having a problem with SQ 3.03beta2 ?? My queue is sitting in the systray and every day (usually at night when I'm not here but my machines are all cranking), I have to restart the Q as the proggy itself has died.. 🙁

Its running under NT4 if that makes any difference..

Any ideas anyone ??

Darkone - I have 2 friends of mine who had experienced the IDENTICAL problem... first with 95 and later with win ME when they gave up on the 95.

One of them managed to sortof fix it but isn't sure what he did. The other is scrambling around trying to get the old setiqueue going again as he's given up out of frustration with the new one right now...

He said that it'll blow up (icon disappears) whenever a client tries to attach to it. He then said that the few times when it didn't blow up, it refused to connect to the seti servers and eventually blew up then...

I'm still using the old one so I can't help you with it, but I wanted to at least let you know that you're not alone... 🙂

Darkone: FYI SetiQ3.03Beta3 is now available for download. I only ran Beta2 for a few hours as Beta2a come close behind. I'm now running Beta3 on two Win98SE boxes. Have had no problems, yet!

Poof: glad i'm not alone..

Maybe I'll go back to .78b....

I've upgraded to Beta3 now.. I'll see how it goes tonite.. If it fails I might have to dump the damn thing... I've lost like 4 days output from that queue now..
🙁

I'm still using .75e (Win98SE) at home and .78b (WinNT4 Server SP6a) at work. It's rock solid and works fine with the new clients as long as you add the 2 lines in the hosts file to point to the SETI server IP's. I've heard nothing good about these new SetiQ versions. What's the advantage aside from it running in the systray instead of the taskbar?

I'm usually the type who upgrades to the newest version just to do it but this is the rare case where you'll see me say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Especially if it means production. Lost production is not recoverable! 😉

I have .75e here at home and .78b at work if you need it. I can also copy you my qseti.txt files if you want. Now get back up and running, we need your production! 🙂

Bummer on the lost production Darkone 🙁

I don't know the point of the newer Q's but I know there is some good with them ... ref OK's TeAm seti proxy... personally I won't go back to searching without it now that I have it 😉 It's just too cool to watch how I compare to the others on there, even tho' I don't get the instant stats fix at the S@H site I still get to compare my output to other TeAm members and that is more fun to me anyway 🙂

I hope you get it to work somehow!

I e-mailed Ken about the problem and sent my crashdump file...

Here's his response...

This one has been fixed. www.reneris.com/seti/setiqueue_i8.exe has the
fix. I will be posting a real release sometime today, so if you
download the test copy please be sure to update again later in the week.

- Thanks, Ken

So, version 3 should be OK....
It has been stable overnight for me..

cheers,

Col
