seting UT up for server

I got my server up & runnin to where everyone can play on it.
But when I try to connect using a different computer in the house with a seperate IP address on that computer it hangs @ connecting & never connects?
I can play on other server's while my server is running (i am not tryn to play on the same com. as i have the sever runnin on).
I have a cable modem , so as u know only one cable line comes in the house & goes into the modem. I have cat5 hub spliting the lines( remember i have 2 IP addresses) .I have been surfn simutaniuos on both seperate computers for a year.
I cannot connect to my own server?

Can you ping your server from the other machine? Sounds like your machines don't know each other... Especially if you try to connect to it by name rather than numerical IP address...

Also, you might want to try explicitly putting the port number in when you try to connect, eg., 192.168.0.1:7777 (or 7000 or whatever port your server is set at).

proof can ya tell me how to ping my server from other system.
i am trying to use the IP to open it with port & without.
I renamed the server computer but still no luck?
I dont think it would be a version colflict? (do you?)
I have 428 on the server & 420 on playn system(420 works better on that system for some reason?)

I play @ server with 428 all the time.

Thx for info , could ya please tell me how to ping my server so i can get one step closer
also i know this works cuz the guy @ the adminpage does it.
