😕 I just built a new system using the P4C800 deluxe with the following parts:

2 x 256meg matched corsair twinmix 3700
ATI radeon 9500 pro ( wanted the 9700 or 9800 but low on funds)
WD Raptor 36gig HD ( wanted 2 but agin low on funds)
old ATA 133 WD 40 gig HD X 2
Liteon 48X CDRW
Older Off Brand DVD rom

That is what I have on the Board

Problem after instaling WINXP Pro my raptor showed up as the 3rd Ide Drive, Primary and secondary drives ATA 133 were conected to the raid but showed up as not detected in the Bios. I have goten the curent Bios and ( 1011 I belive)
and instaled raid driver and all windows updates. How do i get the drives working.

Question 2 : never set up a Raid aray before and have no clue how to set one up othere than I want them in Raid 0 for striping.

I now this is a lot of info to ask but any help would be very helpful.

Thanks

I recently installed windows xp on raid. Here is what I had to do.
1. Go into the bios and set the boot device to scsi. (its a pci slot but trust me)
2. Go into the raid bios and set up a raid array.
3. Now boot the pc from the windows xp install disk.
4. Hit the F-key it tells you to hit for 3rd party raid controller.
5. At then end of the initial pre-setup it asks you to put the install disk in for the raid controller.
6. Tell XP to install in that drive and you're done.

I suggest to only have the raid drives in the computer. Take out any others so there is no confusion.

Thanks will try that out in the morning when I reforemat and reinstal. Had hoped to be abel to keep the Raptor as a Primary C: drive for the OS and a Few Other Programs and keep the Raid aray for downloads , back ups and some games but maybe I will get just as good performance from the Raid aray and use the Raptor for Back up.
