SetiHide on WIn98 crashes my PC

Howdy,

Just found SetiHide today and it looks neat. I have it running on my XP Home PC just fine. When I put it on my WIn 98 SE computer, it seemed to install fine and I set it to run automatically but every time I would boot up I would blue screen and die.

I had to go in through the command prompt and delete the folders I had the seti stuff in and then I booted up just fine.

I am able to run the normal command line Seti program by itself just fine.

Any ideas why it would do this?

I posted to the setihide forums and then realized it's in dutch or something so not sure if I'll get any responses over there.

THanks.

Hmmm. I have only tried to run setihide on NT based machines so I never have that option. Do you still get a system crash if you do not check run at start up and then just ass a shortcut to the startup group?

Wierd! ,I've only run SETIHide on a few machines(& they are Win98)but they were ok......... aside from 1 had a wierd problem of the hyperlinks not working!.I switched that one straight over to SETIDriver.
Maybe you could do the same if you have no luck with SETIHide?

I am able to run it manually. Not sure if it was something with the AutoRun stuff or what. Ah well. It's working for now.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. It was running for a while and not it crashed again. Good old Blue Screen. After a reboot it blue screens each tiem I run the program. Oh well. Guess I'll just let the command line program run in Verbose mode so I can at least tell it's doing something. heh.
