It appears that Berkeley has decided to block the IP address of Seti@work 🙁

An important announcement
Since Tuesday, January 14, 2003, our web server is no longer able to connect to UC Berkeley domain to retrieve data pages from SETI@home's webserver. As a result, we are unable to provide you any updated statistics at this time. For a short term solution, we may be able to resume our hourly updated group and country statistics as soon as Friday, January 17, 2003 by using data from an alternate source. Real-time teams comparison stats page will be discontinued for good.

We apologize for all the inconvenience caused. If you need help to cope with statistical withdrawal syndrome (or whatever it's called), we recommend you seek help from Carolyn's Clinic.

Alternately, there are other cool SETI@home statistics site you can use such as StatsMan and Softdata
 
I saw that this morning! :Q I have wondered how much of a load they put on the SETI stats server with all their lists. I really like some of their stuff and the fast page load.

Same here, I really liked their fast page loads compared to most other stats sites 🙁

I used SetiatWork to get the team rankings for my site. As far as I know, it was the only source that had rank info for all teams. So now I am left with a decision: download 37 SETI pages everyday, rewrite the retrieval script, parse and sort the data for 100,000+ teams, or stop tracking SETI results.


Well, I guess there is a 3rd option. I can go into work and take a sledgehammer to the SETI servers, and be done with it. (j/k, I would never take a sledgehammer to the SETI servers. I would use a mining pick.)
 
Man I am going to miss that page. I also used it everyday because of the speed! Darn it!

Statsman is not too bad though and I still do go to smokeballs site but I hope with this he does not get pounded with hits! 🙂
 
Perhaps you could express everyones feeling about setiatwork site being blocked while you are at work ( with the pickaxe on your shoulder at the time)
 
I rewrote the retrieval/sort script for SETI and it takes about an hour to run. I may also make available a tab-delimited file containing rank, team, and total WU of all teams, so other interested parties won't have to go through the trouble. I expect that my daily downloads will be significantly smaller than SetiatWork since I'm not retrieving individual user data, so hopefully I can fly under the radar.
