Seti user info not updating?

Hello,

I recently installed Seti@home (v3.08) and have been processing data.
My Crystalfontz display software shows that I have completed 10.8 units.
However the Seti@home software is not updating at all, still stuck at 0 for computer time and data units? 😕

I displayed my account on the seti site and it shows the same?

So it appears even though I am getting units to process, I am not sending data back?

Can someone help?

PS, I have a broadband setup with a Linksys BEFSX41 Firewall Router.

1) Are you using an add-on to cache WU's & maybe you haven't returned your finished results?
2) Are you sending results directly to the Berkeley server or using someone's SETI Q?
 
DUDE this sucks! I've already lost over 400 units for a prob that is just like that. I would upload all my units and they never show on the stat site at all. I've done everything i could think of besides going to the main seti office my self and shoving ppl out windows. haha hmm anyways i ask around and ppl told me to do what i've already done to fix the prob. later i tried my account on other ppl's computer and the same result happen. data goes up but never shows on my account. In the end after loseing so much units and the rest of my team having probs just like me I gave up on SETI and don't plan to ever run another buggy messed up DC project again. I hope you can get it fix and don't lose a team or larg amounts of hard earn units like i have.

Are you sure that it is not showing that you have completed 10.8% of a unit? How long have you been running Seti?

You might want to hit the link in my signature that says Wanna See How Fast Your Rig Really Is. That has step by step instructions for setting up Seti with SetiDriver. Setidrive is nice in that it enables you to cache units and monitor your progress.

 
I just had a problem like this with zshowtimez. Let's see if this is the same problem. 😉

When running the CLI Client the first time, you get a DOS screen asking you to answer (1) New User or (2) Returning User [or words to that effect].

You probably typed in "1" and hit ENTER.

Then the next DOS line prompts you for your SETI EMAIL ADDRESS.

Here is where people have run into trouble and have experienced the same thing you are describing.

They either put in the wrong EMAIL ADDRESS or they make a slight/small error when they type in the SETI EMAIL ADDRESS.

Think back to when you ran that first WU. Is it possible you made a mistake?

I don't recognize your name as one of our TeAm AnandTech SETI members so I am limited as to what I can do to help you further. (Hint, maybe you should join up -- but you do have to get this problem fixed first) 😉 🙂 LOL

Ok, first thing I found out (thanks for the links) is that my password was being sent to my junk mail folder. (I was using my hotmail account)

I since changed that to my email account I use for anandtech forums and got my password and joined team anandtech.

So, no, I didn't type my email address incorrectly.
I can bring up my user info here:

As shown on this page, my data is not updating, its stuck at zero.😕

Like I mentioned, I downloaded and installed the GUI version of this.
Do I need to download and install the CLI and SETI Driver files?

One thing I noticed is that in the GUI, clicking on File, the "Connect Now" option is greyed out?
Going to Settings, "Change/Create Login" it says I am currently logged in?
And dispite changing my Settings Preferences for Network to "Ask me before connecting..." or to "Automatically connect..." seems to have no effect on the login state.
Meaning that it always comes up saying I am logged in and that Connect Now is always greyed out?

My Idoxash account works! However my StarUPlink account does not work. I dun many things with he account and even computers such ass formatting them and such and nothing works. In the end I figure it was a prob with the SETI main servers. I even sent a email to them and never herd anything back. One of the things I done was change the email addy for the account 3 times and units still would not show under it. StarUPlink was use by me and 3 other local friends for a mini team you could say so it was wide spread on all of our computers. As I know the prob has not been fix either. I also have great probs at udatting user info on setiathome.com 🙁 -

I know all programs has bugs in them and i'm sure it's prob not the SETI client and just something wrong with the servers. I was hoping for SETI 2 or whatever it is call to come out soon so I can just start over on that project but the way it looks I be dead of old age by that time and i'm only 21 🙁 -

I'm not sure but StarUPlink should have around 1000+ units on it but the last time i looked "around a month ago" it had like 620 or something like that.

If you use the GUI you do not need to download and run the CLI version. If you use the CLI you don't need the GUI at all and also the CLI is faster at seti then the GUI ...

Hi Edward aka EglsFly and welcome to TeAm AnandTech SETI. 😀

I have inspected your account as much as I can without your password (And BTW, I do not want to know it 😉 ).

Nothing comes to (my) mind beyond what I wrote previously in this thread. One thing that I know works is to just follow the instructions linked in my sigline "Join TeAm AnandTech SETI".

Idoxash is absolutely correct. You should not run both the GUI Client and the CLI Client. Only run one or the other with the CLI Client being the most preferred.

I wish we could find out where those completed WUs went but if they weren't just sent to another Seti Email Address (which is still my best guess) I have no idea where they may have gone. Seti@Home is pretty good about keeping up with your WUs and giving proper credit. I would not look in that direction for the solution to this problem.

At this point, I think you should just completely remove (uninstall) the GUI Client and follow the directions here:

It looks like I finally got it working.

I disconnected my network so that I had no connection to the Internet. Let the SETI@home program run through the night to finish the active work unit. When I checked the PC this morning, the satilite icon was flashing red. I connected my network, then had the program connect. It downloaded and uploaded, and now it is updating to the web and the stats for my account. However it reset the work units completed from 14 (where I was at) to 1.

BTW, when I created my Team Anandtech account yesterday, in the SETI GUI, under HTTP proxy (not SOCKS) I set the address for the smokeball account and the port that I retrieved from the web. I hope this is correct.
 
Sorry! I should have let you dudes know that StarUPlink is not on TeAm Anandtech (it was a mini team and things happen causeing it to become apart of it's own SETI team) It is however a memeber of Team StarUPlink. You can find it on the "SETI at home" website under teams. If you want to know why I removed StarUPlink from Anandtech check out deception.net forums in the section where we talk about members that left the team.

When I get some time I'm going to move StarUPlink back to Anandtech, change email addy again, and start sending some WU/s to it. Maybe changing it from one team to another and the email will help it out. Still it's a great lost in the amount of WU/s that has been lost already 🙁
