There was a thread in this forum a while back dedicated to swapping/donating hardware to get some seti crunchers up and running so I thought I'd renew it as we're getting close to the end.

I've got an XP3200+ system that's ready to go as soon as I get a hard drive for it. Doesn't matter how big or how fast, just so long as it's quiet. Even a 4 GB drive will do.

Also have an extra athlon 1 GHz that needs a video card and a cheap POS hard drive.
 
I've got a couple of small 2-4 gig hard drives at home.

I've also have a couple of POS video cards (PCI and AGP)

Anyone who can pick up the shipping costs, can take them for free...
 
I have a P3 933, and a p3 800 (the 800 hasn't been tested) for shipping costs you can have em. (or I'll trade both for a faster p3 (my server currently runs a 933)

edit: danzigrules claimed 'em. he's getting one cruncher up and running and upgrading a p3 500.
 
I have dare I say it... network cards to offer. 😱

After just a few years, I've managed to accumulate a box of around 35 or so.. all are 10/100 and PCI. I have some 2meg PCI video cards too. 🙂

Anybody wouldn't happen to have a working 56k modem lying around they aren't using? My grandma's modem bit the dust on the last snow storm that hit ohio knocking her power out and somehow kill her modem. If I would have known about it earlier, I would have gotten her one for christmas, but I just gave away my last spare modem two days ago. I'm willing to trade any other parts from a pc for the modem.

Anyone got a cheapo socket A MB? I've got everything to get a Tbird 1Ghz running except for the MB.

I may have some 2G HDs available, will have to test them. And a BUNCH of cheapo PCI vid cards. 🙂
 
If I had a socket A motherboard and memory, I could have another cruncher. Those would have a little value, so I'd swap you a GF2 or something if you want. I have vid cards, some NIC's (ISA and PCI) and massive amounts of ribbon cables as well as a 300W PSU that's brand new (Enlight). Also have ISA SCSI cards if somebody has a SCSI drive but no cards free. I could also use Cat 5 cables any length, but 12-15 footers would be ideal.
 
I think I may have some extra CAT 5 laying around. Well I know I do actually. Some of it is crossover for sure, maybe all of it...
 
Crossover should be ok. My switch has autosensing ports, so I believe it would figure it out. Somebody tell me if I'm wrong, OK?

Crossover will not be OK even if your switch is autosensing.

Crossover is used to go from device to device without a switch or hub. i.e. computer to computer, computer to printer. You can also use a crossover to chain older hubs and switches (without an uplink port) together

Of course, you can turn any crossover cable into a straight cable with a simple RJ-45 plug and a crimper tool 😉
 
Cool, I learned something new. I don't have a plug or crimper. I'll also ask the IT guy at work (shocker-it's not me LOL) if the company has some Cat5 that I could borrow.
 
Is there anyone in the Atlanta area who who would want a Gateway PIII-500. It will do about 2.3 WUs a day. I am out of power and cut it off the last time the breaker tripped. Free to a good home, but ya got to pick it up.

I guess the PCI vid cards are possibley the only useful thing here ,sorry but I either use the good parts or sell them on Micro Mart.
