I'm finally back following a vacation, an office relocation, and a week of jury duty. (Only the first of the three afore-mentioned activities was enjoyable. Can you guess which one?) I'm still settling into the new office digs (have yet to decide if I like my new office or not) and I'm wondering if I can remember how to do the race thread. :Q
A big thanks and a half to Major Tom Tarca for taking over for me during my absence. It's great to know that Tom is there to step in when I'm in a pinch. Thanks a ton, Tom! 🙂
Greeting me back to active race coordination is networkman, who streams across the finish line in the SETI 500 at Tarca speedway, leaving a wake of cat-5 cable, RJ45 connectors and a little fibre behind him on the track. Beginning the race with a sizable handicap, NWM put his rig building shoes on and expanded his fleet to the point where it became fruitless for the competition to resist further. Having not seen one of the SRL's most popular Michiganders for quite some time, the race babes could be heard in the lounge letting out squeal after delighted squeal upon learning of the imminent appearance of one of TA's SETI studs in their friendly abode. Welcome back to the winner's circle, NWM! You may want to stick around and catch the conclusion of Tarca'a SETI 500. Baldy18 and Assimilator1 are putting on quite a battle for seconds.
It is also my pleasure today to introduce a new race to the SRL populace. Racing not to a milestone or to a certain number of workunits from a standing start, these two SETI entrepreneurs are racing to see who can attain the 50th spot in the Team Anandtech SETI standings first. Currently running at slot 58, Makin' Bacon Cakin has loosed the hounds in the garage and is whacking wu's once again at a frenetic pace, reaching 56 on day one in the charts. His competition, hailing from the beautiful blue-grass state of Kentucky, is the magic man, conjur, who hopes to cast a little spell on his competition and wind up holding the certificate of ownership to number 50 ahead of the misplaced Texan. With only 26 wu's and one teammate separating them (Assimilator1), this one looks to be a dandy and should provide SRL followers with quite a bit of raucus entertainment.
I'd like to take a moment to wish one of TA's own the best of luck. RC, you're in my thoughts and prayers, buddy. Hang in there.
