For the third time in four days, the SRL crowns another racing champion. The furious action on the SETI 1000 oval reaches a fever pitch as Jwyatt storms low off the final turn, turbochargers screaming, and powers his rig by IcecreamLtDan to take the checkered flag in one of the most thrilling races ever run on SRL tracks. What an exciting back and forth battle this was! Congratulations, Jwyatt on a race well run, and congrats also to the Lieutenant on an outstanding effort and second place finish. Stick around and see how the rest of the field finishes up.
Here's a first in SRL history. Two factions fighting battles on two fronts. The Federation and the Cardassians are not only dueling it out amongst each other in a race to 500, they are both battling a common foe in TWTA for the right to wear the crown in a Race to 1500. This should be interesting as it becomes apparent early on that TWTA will be needing some reinforcements before long. In an incredibly bold move, Dukat has agreed to battle two teams by himself. The Cardassians are certainly a prideful species, some might say boastful, but they usually manage to back up their words.
After dropping off a load of passengers at Rigel VII two days earlier, Captain Joe in the USS Rohan has the warp engines throbbing once again as he cruises at warp eight, putting valuable parsecs between himself and the TG powered USS Phiton. Captain Phil's engineering crew is still struggling with that balky trans-galactic monstrosity, never quite able to achieve the consistent output Starfleet intended for this experimental drive. Meanwhile, being the second starship in the fleet to receive the TG drive, the USS Hack has certainly benefited from the experience Starfleet engineers gained while installing the new fangled drives on the Phiton as she has now warped to within 111 parsecs of the USS Poop.
Smokeball finally comes through with the type of production run that we've come to admire. Apparently, the Biloxi Bomber has been out visiting the troops in the field and whipping their behinds back into shape. It's going to take a lot more days like this if the Bomber hopes to live up to the expectations he placed upon himself at the start of the race. Yield has proven to be a more than worthy opponent for the man from Mississippi.
In the Steel Cage, Sukhoi and Ray are now duking it out alone and Ray is mounting his comeback, doubling the output of his nemesis in the 1500 Grudge Match. An excellent race is shaping up in the Race to 500 as the Borg Slahr Dzhe turns in a HUGE day, vaulting him by thecool1 and thrusting him into the lead by eleven wu's. In the Sprint to 4000, if Izzy can boost his average production over the 50 mark, this classic wind-sprint with ElFenix should be a photo finish. Fardringle continues to amaze with his early consistent production while zodder struggles to get the fleet back on line in the Race to 2500, and welcome back Max as the Crunchin' Canadian is in double digits again and tracking the defster under full power.
Advancements among racers on 8/27 include IsOs up 1 to 49, cakin up 1 to 73, Smokeball up 1 to 71, RaySun2be up 1 to 130, Toft / Vold - DK up 4 to 129, Baldy18 up 1 to 139, TWTA up 1 to 228, The Federation up 9 to 283, Gul Dukat up 10 to 296, Jwyatt up 3 to 161, ledzepp98 up 2 to 171, SpookyFish up 2 to 187, DarkMajiq up 1 to 194, Slahr Dzhe up 10 to 323, and last but not least, thecool1 up 2 to end the day at 326.
