Laxatives have worked their purgelistic duties for a number of racers who were experiencing constipated queues as can be witnessed by the number of shockies in this morning's race thread. There are a few impressive piles of workunits fermenting at Berkeley's doorstep on this fine day, I'm telling you!
Holding off a 98 wu mega thrust by TA's stats master soni, the Yielder dumps a nifty fifty plus three to power his way across the finish line in The Mid-Major Crunch to 2500 with a Handicapped NWM to trigger the re-start of the partying in the race coordinator's lounge. Having been quiet for the last four days, the race babes have been getting a little bored and have been so looking forward to another dip in the hottub with one of the SRL's racing studs. Now that Yield has crossed the finish line and his many fans in the stands have had their chance to cheer and scream for their hero (no, those loonies are not invited to the party!), maybe they will finally give those YIELD street signs back to the local department of transportation so traffic patterns around the race track can finally return to normal. Congratulations, Yield! Come join the party, have a brewski and a relaxing dip in the hottub with our world famous race babes and their impressive PhD's.
A new race opens up this morning simply dubbed Another Race to 4000 because the "clever" part of my brain has stopped functioning for the time being. In honor of the upcoming full moon, the Liberated Predatory Canid has been let loose to prowl the area in search of unsuspecting prey to satisfy his hunger for racing. Volunteering to be amongst the hunted is PhotoLenny, a returning race veteran who last fought against the British in a Photograph of Confusion at 3000. Also joining the fray is Panhead49, another veteran who spent way too long aging in the Lonely Racer's bracket and Ammocan, who returns for another go at racing. Rounding out the ranks in this barn buster to 4000 is a brand spanking new rookie to the SRL named ICXRa who begins the first day of racing like an experienced veteran by smashing up 44 workunits to lead the bracket. Early calculations give the rookie the advantage, but anything can happen in this race that should end mid-July, especially when one considers the vast and experienced crunching talent assembled for this donneybrook.
JW.Middleton cuts loose with 174 wu's to land inside the 500 wu mark to go in his personal challenge to 35,000 by the end of the month. Joining JWM in duplicitous dumpage is networkman in his personal quest to reach 22,000 with 135 workunits munched. Oh the relief these two must feel this morning after sitting on full queues for several days. IJump is back in the saddle again, over the century daily mark and steaming for the Holy Grail. But look at the Slobber Guy dribble his way towards the 10K marker in the The Great 10K CountDown. Overtaking crt1530 by 15 as the two head down the final stretch to the checkered flag means only one more day of racing till we see which master muncher will be the next AnandTecher to join the five digit club. Don't count crt out yet!
The May Mauling to 3500 sees bbarnes maintain his commanding lead as he cruises only 196 wu's from the finish line. The real excitement in this match will be in the battle for second place. With four racers within striking distance of the number two spot, nemur begins his assault on Ishmael2k's flanks. Look at the migrooster go! Walloping 56 workunits overnight, the friendly Brit lands only four away from his 2K June 1 goal. What a time for Smokie's army to run into rough marching weather! With the Pie Guy bearing down hard on his position in the Race to Crunch 3000 with a Clobbered Pie, the Biloxi Bomber needs to find a break in the weather in a hurry. Lots of big dumps in The Crunch Bunch Munch to 1500 lead by Innuendo Minendo's 65. Looks like Minnie is hankering for a little payback for that "caning" he was dealt by Rowdy Ray when the Rascal Rider zoomed by on the third day of the race.
