Starting off today's docket of race reports is the awesome crunch fest known as The Mid-Major Crunch to 2500 with a Handicapped NWM where conjur's magic earns him a victory much to the delight of his fans in the stands. The high-pitched screams and squeals from conjur's many female fans has the followers of the other racers holding their ears and track ushers turning the fire hoses on the racer's adoring groupies, turning the victory party into an impromptu wet t-shirt contest. Conjur's powerful run over the last several weeks came as a suprise to many SRL afficianados, with his dailies hovering at or near the 60 wu mark. It was power not expected from conjur's fleet at the outset of the race and power that will make future competitors very wary before signing their names on racing contracts with the Kentuckian. Congratulations, conjur!
The dreaded Berkeley Bandwidth Bursitis has struck the ranks of TA once again. But just as with the last epidemic, some amongst the throng of racers seem unaffected by the strange malady. Among those finding clear lanes is JW.Middleton whose mammoth 113 exceeds his pre-challenge average by nearly 40. GreatWhiteNorth and SoulAssassin also appear to be unaffected by the constriction to Berkeley's wu receptacles with the Assassin still cruising with the lead in The Great 10K CountDown. One day after being slapped with the second place fish, GWN begins his come-back, stomping all over 45 packets to cut his deficit to 52. With slightly less than 150 wu's to go to the finish, the race to see who will become the 46th Teamer to crack the 10K barrier is certainly becoming a thriller!
The Big Dawg continues to unearth buried wu's at an alarming rate, bringing to light the fact that canines are obviously immune to the bandwidth virus. Not so for poor IJump who's tally of six is only about 150 below his usual average. Hopefully the folks at CUB will get this latest epidemic cured soon, or the Big Dawg will be howling a victory tune quite shortly. In the Race to 9000, cakin and pa-za-zoo-loo sing a little 41 wu duet to pace the racers in that bracket while EvilWobbles and Crazee don't appear to be constipated at all, scooting 37 and 57 wu's respectively towards SoCal in the Race to 7000. The Oscillator may be getting a little too close for comfort to Crabby, who keeps snapping his gigantic foreclaws in warning as he scurries across the sand at the front of the pack.
Severe wu stoppage has affected most everyone in the crowded Race to 6000 with the notable exception of Innuendo Minendo whose 23 has his competitors looking for Minnie's tub of wu grease. The wu sapping malady has added at least one day to the predicted closing date for the May 11th Date at 3000, with the Dazzler 8 wu's from the mark at the close of the original destination date. Meanwhile, wirelessenabled continues to knock racers off the track after throwing a nasty hip check into Ammocan and knocking him right into third place. The migrooster crashes 22 workunits to bring his personal challenge into view, although more of the same will be most definitely required in order to hit the magical 2K mark by June 1, and the Biloxi Bomber remains the only member of the monster crunchers in the Race to Crunch 3000 with a Clobbered Pie to remain above the century mark today with 127 wu's crunched under the boots of his impressive little army.
