With his six-guns blazing away, Sheriff Zod cross the finish line, taking the checkered flag in the Race to 5000 and gains entry to one of the most prestigious clubs in all of Seti-dom, the 5K-Club. 5000 workunits is quite an accomplishment and is an indicator of an individual's dedication and determination. Nearly exceeding the 50 wu daily mark, the Sheriff's new laws in Computer Labville have obviously begun to pay dividends. Congratulations, Zappin' Zod. Don't forget to crack open a cool one and take your celebratory dip in the hottub, provided that Rowdy Ray and TWTA left some beer in the fridge and some water in the tub after their little 5K celebration a week ago.

Starfleet has dispatched two of its finest ships to investigate a strange space anomaly that just appeared near the border of the Neutral Zone near sector 12,000. Because of its close proximity to the sector, the USS Globally Unique Identifier or USS Guid for short, a Crusher class science vessel commanded by Captain Scott, was ordered to proceed in due haste to that region of space. Rendezvousing with the Guid at sector 12,000 will be Captain Izzy and the crew of his fine ship, the USS IsOs. Known to be able to cover tremendous expanses of space in a very short amount of time, the IsOs will also be required to provide defensive support for Captain Scott should hostile Romulan forces be encountered near the Neutral Zone. I hear that Captains Izzy and Scott attended the Academy together and have a little side wager to see who can reach Sector 12,000 first. Granted, a science vessel is no match for a Galaxy class starship in terms of performance, but Captain Scott is much closer to their destination. This should be an interesting race.

Down in the Race to 750, BigWoofer has officially made this an exciting come from behind race as he has passed his last obstacle on the road to victory. Crunching 38 and obliterating the competition yesterday, the Big Dawg has nothing between himself and the big dog bone being waved at the finish line except air. Meanwhile, in the Race to 3000, rumors are spreading that the Mucster may be bringing a few additional powerplants on line in the near future to help propel him across the finish line ahead of his competitors who continue to chop away at his advantage. The Race to 1250 is quickly drawing to a close with Clueless now only one good day's production from taking the checkered flag ahead of Pyxis and Muadib who gave Clueless quite a run for his money. The 3 E-migos continue to battle it out on their way to 1500 with Evadman taking high production honors for the bracket yesterday and a good day for Emos, two over his usual average, allows him to trim the gap to the leader Eltano1 but sees him fall one more wu in back of Evadman. Electrode has his fleet back at full strength in the Race to 2500, producing in double-digits and hot on the trail of PhotoLenny whose lead is about to fall below the century mark.

Logix, obviously refreshed after his brief rest at 1039, surges forward 13, reducing the distance to his goal of 1100 to 48 while behind him, bunker takes another respite and Ishmael2k slams 16. The Race to 2250 sees Commander Tarca hand the Blues Brother a ticket for third place as he smashes a big 50 while the Pie Guy struggles with his second sub-par day in a row, prompting many in the crowd to murmur amongst themselves wondering if the Aussie has hit a snag in his Linux Ninja training. GreatWhiteNorth is once again stirring up the spectators, yesterday pounding out a phenomenal 79 workunits as he begins to put some significant pressure on Gul Dukat. The Cardy was no slouch himself with 43, but one has to believe that pretty soon Dukat has to run out of "auxilliary" fuel for the warp drives. Meanwhile, up front cakin continues his near twenty wu dailies, trying not to become too distracted by the shenanigans being perpetrated by his competitors to the rear.

Advancements among racers on 12/8 include The Federation up 1 to 53, Gul Dukat up 1 to 69, GreatWhiteNorth up 2 to 76, Baldy18 up 1 to 89, sparks up 1 to 118, thecool1 up 2 to 131, Tarca up 4 to 141, Pabster up 2 to 152, JimMc up 3 to 164, Eltano1 up 1 to 196, Emos up 1 to 209, Clueless up 2 to 190, pyxis up 1 to 194, Logix up 4 to 212, Ishmael2k up 5 to 246, CRV up 2 to 277, ShotgunSteve up 1 to 283, Panhead49 up 1 to 227, Kruptikos up 1 to 284, Maggotry up 1 to 254, EvilWobbles up 2 to 273, Bigwoofer up 6 to 290, Hoober up 1 to 299, JetsFanatic up 1 to 312, ledzepp98 up 1 to 84, Swanny up 2 to 121, DarkMajiq up 1 to 162.

Thanks for the ever appreciated stats and entertaining commentary OD! :)

Bump me into the race to 5000 for tomorrow if possible.
My current low production at least allows me to give Wiz a run for his money! :D

Thanks again OD for the daily chuckle!

Shenanigans? UGH! I think I have too little too late to do anything. I figure in 8 days Cakin will have the title. Then it will be between me and the Cardassian.

Can I use my ReplayTV to crunch WUs? I am looking for anything and everything I can use...

Gul Dukat,

Cakin has a 'cake walk' to victory with us tailing behind. Those stray shot and mines will not slow me down, it only entices me to assimulate more! =)

As the old saying goes...All your base are belong to us! Make your time! =)

Gotta love 'dem stats!

The sad thing is, I have all these computers cruching for me:

K6 233
K6-2 300
k6-2 500
Duron 600@750
Duron 750@950
(2) Thunderbird 900
Thunderbird 1.0@1.4

And I am only getting 8 WU's a day. ( running seti driver on all but 1 machine, and that one is running the screensaver with grafix disabled ) Maybe I have to turn off my FTP, Web (2) Email, and Game servers (3) to free up some CPU cycles. Bah, maybe I will just upgrade everything that can be upgraded to some 1600+ chips ( 4 boards will support them ) :)

I have one more 900 Thunderbird coming up on 48 hrs as soon as I finish my Plexi case :)

Bring on the Challengers!

Oh, and thans for my daily Stat Fix OD :)

Thanks for the great commentary and the props, OD. I'm pretty happy to have reached the 5K plateau. :)

BTW - All I found in the fridge was a rusty can of Millwaukee's Best Lite and half a ham sandwhich. The hot tub was empty, too. :(

That seems way too slow. The following are very rough estimates. ;)

The K6 200 Mhz and K6-2 300 MHz should get you 1 WU/day.
The K6-2 500 MHz should get you 1 WU/day.
Each Duron should get you atleast 2 WU/day, and probably more like 3, so that's 6 WU/day from them.
Each TBird 900 MHz should get you 3 WU/day, so that's 6 WU/day from them.
The TBird 1.4 GHz should be getting 3-4 WU/day at the min.

That's more than 8 WU/day. Are all those computers on 24/7? What WU times are you getting from each?

Ya, they are all on 24/7. They run web servers and such, so they are always busy, so Seti doesn't have that much to crunch with. I think I am just gonna go the upgrade route.

Some of these ( the e-mail sevrer in paticular ) are always above 50% CPU all the time. ( on average ) I will definately do some upgrading soon :)

<edit>
Some quick WU times

1.0@1.4 = 8 hrs ( 3 a day )
750@950 duron = 10 hrs
233 K6 = 41 hrs
300 K6-2 = 36 hrs
= ~6 or so a day, So I guess I just have them loaded to much. Definately time to upgrade :) Now I have an excuse!

Those are the ones I can get to easily. ( the rest I have to plug in the monitor cable by hand, as I am out of A/B switches :) )
