Now that the USS Phiton has reappeared on the other side of the space anomaly near the Neutral Zone, Captain Izzy fires off a flare spread of photon torpedoes in joyous celebration and proceeds at maximum warp towards Admiral Phil's position at sector 12196. In his haste to join the USS Phiton, the IsOs mis-triangulated their position and speed and overshot Admiral Phil's current position, landing at sector 12213, stopping only briefly to mark the space anomaly and leave a scientific bouy with their preliminary findings for Captain Scott and the USS Guid to complete their analysis. Congratulations, Captain Izzy! We'll be sending a shipment of Romulan Ale and green-skinned Rigelian race babes to your position shortly, so fill the hottub with that special sparkling spring water from Belub 7. Kudos to Captain Scott, also. Too bad the big prizes always go to the swash-buckling Starship captains and not the work-a-day guys in the science vessels.
Also earning victory kudos today is the pride of King, NC, Jumpin' Jwyatt as he takes the checkered flag in the Quickie to 3000, earning his third K-Club key and a little time in the hottub. He may have been the last to cross the finish line in this race but he's first in the hearts of many SRL racing fans as can be seen by the cheering throngs still at the 3000 track. These fans remember the courageous and thrilling spectacle that was the Great Race to 2500 and Jumpin J was right in the middle of that memorable race. Congratulations on the milestone, Jwyatt!
A couple of new races make their debut today. First off, let's go to one I failed to mention yesterday as ConfusedBW and PhotoLenny team up in a brand new race that will eventually end up in what I'm sure will be a Photograph of Confusion at 3000. PL begins the race with a sizable advantage of 392 wu's, but the British Bulldog can pick 'em up and put 'em down in a hurry to which yesterday's run of 28 obviously attests. Don't let your guard down, PhotoLenny. The Bulldog can be a real nasty dog once his snout gets a whiff of competition.
Debuting in today's thread is another race to 3000, this one promising to be a real Free-For-All between five hardened racing veterans, Pabster, thecool1, PieDerro, Swanny, and Electrode who runs with the early lead. This one should come to a climax around the middle of February with a clear-cut winner too difficult to call at this early juncture. The real dark horse in this race is the Awesome Aussie who runs strictly with a scaled down fleet at the outset. Towards the end of January, his university rigs should be coming back on-line at which point this race will become extremely interesting and fun to watch. Good luck, gentlemen!
I can't let a day go by without commenting on our two most thrilling wars being waged at SRL venues. Positions one and three in Another Race to 2000 trade places as the former trailer serialb kicks in the turbo-chargers and powers his way past both JimMc and the former leader DarkMajiq as the three battle their way around the back stretch heading into turn eight. Swinging his racing rig in close behind serialb as he passed, JimMc scoots by Majiq as well, taking full advantage of the draft serialb's roaring rig provided. A collective groan rises from the Majiq fans in the crowd but even though they may be disappointed in the recent events that have befallen their hero, no one can argue with the thrill-a-minute action taking place on the track.
Both the action and the crowd noise is reaching a fever pitch at ringside in the Race to 1100 between the two battling heavyweights, Ish and Bunkie! Taking one step back after the two traded enormous blows up close at the center of the ring with neither emerging as the clear victor, Bunkie lands a hard left to the body and another devastating right cross to Ish's jaw, staggering the big fella momentarily. I don't think Bunkie was too pleased with the taunt about the "Castle calling" coming from Ish's corner. Despite the huge two-punch combination from Bunkie, Ish simply refuses to go down, putting to rest pre-bout rumors of a glass jaw. One more day! Who will be left standing? Who will become the new 1100 champion of the world? I can't wait to see!
