Well, I was going to do a TA-Seti version of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" this morning, but I realized after I got started that it would be New Year's before I finished, so lame commentary will have to do...
Look out, Captain Poopsie! Captain OD has picked up your vessel on long range scanners and has plotted an intercept course in 20,000 Before the Project Ends, or Else! The Engineering crew aboard the USS Ohio has devised a way to add a couple of 1600 XP power couplings to the plasma stream flow regulator and a nifty little upgrade of the Celeron 400 phase reversal generator to a nice 1.2 GHz experimental model manufactured on the planet Tualatin IV is also in the works. That should give the ol' USS Ohio a nice little sub-space power boost and hasten the intercept plot to a more satisfactory time frame. Meanwhile, Anything But Playne Wayne appears to have shut down the fleet for the holidays as his Universe class star ship was last seen in the repair bay at Space Dock 42 orbiting the planet Pathos V in the Bonorean system.
The pafster is making The Crunch & Munch 10K his own little playground as he is beginning to leave the rest of the competition in the dust. Yesterday's 64 continues his string of smilie earning dailies and lengthens his lead to 746 over his closest competitor. Evaderman is getting oh so close to the finish line in Who da Ho Ho Ho!?! Christmas Race to 5000 but the tension is palpable in the stands as the whole TA-Seti world watches and waits to see if Evaderman can cross the finish line before jolly old St. Nick climbs down the chimney looking for his milk and cookies. Still two days out, Evadman had best hurry and get those snacks out for Santa or he'll find a couple of lumps of coal and a VLAR wu in his stocking for Christmas. It's going to be close one for Awesome Adul. With only a week and a day to go in his personal Adul's 2002 Year End Celebration at 2500 challenge, he still has 93 wu's to crack in order to fulfill his goal.
After trying to catch Jumpin' Jatwell as he runs around the track in the 3000 WU Smoosh in order to administer a handicap, exhausted SRL officials have decided just to knock a few wu's off his total in order to level the playing field. The 800 wu penalty knocks Jumpin' J from first place down to fourth, handing lead honors over to Mighty Micron who is nursing a 50 wu lead over Team Tofter / Volder. Only 18 more wu's to the rear, Captain Funky and Rowdy Ray, who gave J a nice little Whack! on the way by, are sittin' pretty, well, maybe not so pretty, in the cockpit of the psychadelic Funky Bus now that Jumpin' J has been assessed his handicap. It's clear sailing ahead for Captain Clams in 3000 WU's or Bust, Baby!. Steering the USS Shux to within 500 wu's of the finish line, Captain Clams jettisons a few disrupter mines in his wake just in case Lane42 decides to launch one of his usual thunder dumps. Speaking of Lane42, he and Sizzlin' Soni are locked in a dandy battle for second place with only 55 sectors separating the pair.
Cough, cough, hack, wheeze, spit! OD now finds himself sniffing the fumes being left behind by LyNx01's recharged fleet. Stomping out 36 to OD's 30, LyNx01 regains the lead in the Plain Old Race to Crunch 1500 WU's. Meanwhile at the back of that bracket, neovan has arisen from his Christmas slumber, dumping an impressive 83 to earn a shockie from Gertie and pull himself right back into contention. In the 1000 WU Woad Wally, disaster has befallen KCJeeper as his rigs have landed in the Bermuda Triangle of race tallies -- 666! :Q With his instrument panel going whacky in the pilot's cabin of his racing rig, tires alternately going flat and re-inflating, and the Twilight Zone theme song blaring unendingly from the rig's sound system, KCJeeper struggles to regain control of his fleet.
