The starter's pistol fired signalling the start of 2001: A WU Oddesy, the racers stormed out of the gate and were about to negotiate the first turn when a masked figure leapt from the crowd and onto the track right into the midst of the racers who were all hell-bent on heading into the first turn with the lead. Streaking towards the front of the pack, the lone figure began to battle tooth and nail with SoulAssasin for the right to bear the flag into the first turn. The masked figure turned out to be the SRL warlock, conjur who just couldn't stand the thought of watching a great race pass him by from the stands. Tied with SoualAssasin around the first turn, conjur glances to the rear to see an angrily honking and flapping Swanny only one wu behind followed six short packets further back by Wayne's World who is busy laying tacks on the track for BBR and the trailing Darth Polo who continues to charge the hyperdrive.
As engineering continues to adjust the dual Xeon warp field enhancement generator aboard the USS Ohio in the Wascally WU Whapper to 1500, a celery 800 plasma coupling suddenly fails, causing a rapid deceleration that tosses the shapely young bridge ensign right into Captain OD's waiting lap. Realizing that now is not the time for romance, Captain OD tosses the poor girl to the deck and orders full power to the Xeon enhancer. (That's the thing about the great Starfleet captains... They always know when it's time to fight, and when it's time to hanky-panky. ) Seeing Mad MaxSiren's aft section dead ahead on the view screen, Captain OD orders the weapons officer to prepare a spread of photon farts, a tricky new Federation weapon that can have devasating effects on the issuing vessel as well as the enemy when fired upon a target directly ahead. Meanwhile, OD begins to formulate a plan to somehow slow Captain Panhead, who must have just flushed all of his sonic toilets simultaneously aboard his ship, the explosive decompression vaulting him forward 55 parsecs overnight.
Admiral Engineer earns a Starfleet Shockie award for his impressive 216 parsec traverse in The Century Stud Stomp to 5000. The warp jump pads the Fed's lead to 300-plus over Commander Smoke and his army of crunchers. Meanwhile at the back of the pack, LannerManner struggles to maintain his grasp of fifth place ahead of Crazee. Quite a battle is shaping up in Snap! Crackle! Pop! 3000 WU's for Breakfast between Yield, Captain CAD and the defster. With the El Camino streaking towards the final turn, CAD and Yield are mounting some serious threats from the number two and three positions respectively. Minnie Minendo has opened up a 36 wu lead over neovan in The KenTurkey Derby Thanksgiving Race to Crunch 1200 while panhead49 closes in from behind. LyNx01 continues to lead the 1000 Workunit Blitz ahead of Artie and Spacehead. And Muckity Mucman closes in on the prize in the Race to 9000.
