Check out IJump's excellent race prediction analysis. 🙂

Another new race springs forth this morning in the race thread bringing the current race docket to 18 separate contests of crunching skill. This race features a whole slate of veterans and is being run to the unusual total of 1200 workunits which should bring us to completion right around Thanksgiving (unless neovan keeps up this power surge). Being a race made up of numerous Seti thoroughbreds, race officials have determined that The KenTurkey Derby Thanksgiving Race to Crunch 1200 will become an annual event to be run the second week of October of every year and will be made up of some of the SRL's most promising young (or old) talent. The innaugural running features the aforementioned neovan, whose suprising 49 gives him a big early lead, followed by fan favorite Minnie Minendo who purges 24 to hit his usual average right between the eyes. Sauntering out of the gate with a comfortable grip on the three hole is Terrible Teriba who smacks around 21. Bringing up the rear are two hearty SRL veterans, JimMc and Panhead49 who match each other's production with 17 workunits. Good luck to all our KenTurkey Derby racers!

Special congrats to Admiral Phiton as he crosses the 27,000 wu mark. Seems like just yesterday he and I were racing to 8000. Now he's ahead of me by more than 10K! :Q

How many people remember the old fourth grade science lesson about gravity and the acceleration of a body in free fall? Remember the old "32 feet per second per second" rule? I remember how that last "per second" confused the hell out of me in fourth grade and everything else just kinda went down hill after that. What I'd like to know is since 32 feet per second works out to roughly 22 miles an hour, why the heck didn't they just say 22 miles an hour? "A body in a free fall will accelerate at the rate of 22 miles per hour every second." Makes a hell of a lot more sense than "32 feet per second per second", doesn't it?!?

And while we're at it, what exactly is gravity? Is it the action and reaction of theorized particles called gravitons that some physicists have suggested exist? Is it the remnants of some other force that exists in another dimension that is spilling over into ours? Does the force of gravity in the universe decrease as the universe expands? Why does the Earth orbit the sun? Is it the "pull" of gravity from the sun that keeps us in an eliptical orbit around our parent star as Newtonian physics suggest? Or is the Earth actually traveling in a straight line and the gravitational forces of the sun have caused a curvature in space time so that we only appear to be moving in an eliptical pattern around the sun as Einstein's General Theory of Relativity would have us believe?

Did you know that mathematically, planetary orbits and spacecraft trajectories can be calculated exactly using either method (Newton's or Einstein's) but Einstein's equations are so complex that even NASA still uses Newton's calculations? Or how about this one... When you drop a rock, does it actually fall to the ground, or does the rock remain stationary and the earth actually hit the rock as it moves through space-time? Now there's something to think about.

I know that last part had nothing to do with racing. I just had to get that off my chest... 😉🙂😀

Advancements among racers on 10/11 include Karsten up 2 to 80, LiveLongAndProsper up 2 to 83, minendo up 1 to 109, Actaeon up 4 to 564, ZeroEffect up 1 to 65, micron up 1 to 114, Dazmite up 1 to 144, Emos up 1 to 208, ys up 2 to 246, Adul up 1 to 378.

Thanks OD!

This racing stuff makes me want to assmilate and build computers 😱
/ponders about assimilating 2 1ghz Tbirds 😀

Thanks OhioDude 🙂

And what if the rock drop on the other side of earh, will it fly 'upwards' ????

Thanks OD🙂

so if someone on either side of the planet drops a rock does this mean that we are constantly fracturing the space time continuum for objects to crash into each other?

Probably makes no sense but i knew what I meant.

Very interesting OD, and thx!

Someone got bored today! :Q

Thanks for stats and commentry, as well as that interesting....tidbit....OD 🙂

Congrats to the milestone makers, especially wxman, Dougal, extraterrestrial and Evermore for achieving their first milestone of hopefully many 😀

Confused

I am feeling the heat... trying to finish the race to 9000.
No... really... I am feeling the heat and probably stressing my apartments breakers. Right now I have 7 Computers going just in my little room. Needless to say my Aircondition has given up to condition this room very much and I have extra fans running to circulate throughout the house. 🙂

Are we all that nuts 🙂 LOL

It is going to be a though squeze with LiveLongAndProsper! May the best computer rack win! 😉
