The wild and wooly Wildnet Team have been waiting for race officials to open up the 10K lounge since yesterday morning after they pushed their rig across the 10K milestone marker. Today the lounge is open and the brew is flowing from the gold-plated taps located throughout the victory lounge. Every snack tray has a fresh package of Oreo cookies carefully layed out with loving care by the race babes and the hottub has been filled and scented with exotic oils. For the Wildnet Team, this is a journey that began over a year ago, a quest for the Holy Grail of milestones at 10K, when they made their first appearance in the Seti Racing League. With grit and determination, they toiled after the prize and today they get to bask in the glory that all SRL participants yearn for... a physics lesson from the PhD babes. Congratulations on reaching 10K, Wildnet Team! Welcome to the 10K club!
Also earning the right to party hearty in the victory lounge yesterday was lobadobadingdong bell who soared across the finish line in the 750 WU Master Muncher Marathon. Leading the race from beginning to end, lbdbdd bell, a relative newcomer to the racing scene, was able to hold off charges from several highly decorated racing veterans like Powerful Pyxis and Bullet BobTheWizard. As lbdbdd heads towards the awards platform to receive his lounge key and awards certificate, the stands are a cacaphony of dings and dongs as the multitude of lbdbdd fans bring out their souvenir lobadobadingdong bells (on sale now at all SRL souvenir stands) and beat upon them mercilessly. Congratulations, lobadobadingdong!
A new contest of wondrous wu whomping might began yesterday morning featuring a plethora of pugnacious packet pounding professionals, many of whom are gracing these racing pages for the first time in many moons. Taking a look at the 7500 WU Seti Stud Stomp after two days of racing, we find it hot and heavy at the front of the pack where Jumpin' Jehosephats IJump and Marvelous MoFunk in the psychadelic Funky Bus are raising large lumps upon each other's heads, jostling back and forth for position only two wu's apart. This pair of studly stompers are already separating themselves from the remainder of the star-studded pack. In third place, Admiral Engineer, his buttocks still bandaged after the false start three days earlier, leads the Federation into the first turn 50 wu's off the blistering pace being set by the lead pair. Currently running in the fourth position is our friendly Hawaiian IsOs who has languished many moons in the lonely racer's bracket. Captain Izzy is well known throughout the racing world as one of the masters of the Queue-Tinkle-Powie maneuver so it would behoove the lead racers to keep their aft sections well armored. And currently bringing up the rear of the bracket is the Sheriff, Zappin' Zod at 220 after two days of racing. If I were the Sheriff, I'd be scouting around for some additions to the posse because it'll take all the six shooters he can muster to hang with this crunching crowd.
Oh, and by the way, Woohoo! for me, too!
