At approximately 00:18 EST (5:18 AM GMT), the Berkeley perimeter multi-phasic shield generator took a direct hit from a muon cannon fired by a marauding band of Norsican pirates who had just hyper-jumped from the Oompoolian system located in the Nanodon sector in the far reaches of the Andromeda galaxy. A follow up burst from their inverse plasma nematatode light gun took out Berkeley's multi-redundant workunit collector array resulting in a sudden reverse field polarity shift neutrino wave that backwashed through the collector stem and fried the packet deceleration chamber injection pre-filter gamma trap. :Q
Fortunately, the ever watchful and alert Colonel David P. Anderson ordered an immediate shutdown of the packet stabilizer manifold controllers avoiding any major damage to the intricate wave analysis destructor/constructor mechanisms. The Colonel then ordered return fire from the multi-particle hydrogen fusion pulse phasers and launched an Avenger beta-block tachyon guided ion implosion missle that locked on to the toxic gases seeping from the Norsican battle cruiser's waste port. That spelled the end of any more Norsican chicanery, but unfortunately Berkeley's workunit intake pre-fire arms had already been damaged by the Norsican's ambush.
Take heart though, because Berkeley engineers have been working hard to fix the problem and have already re-primed the accelerator guide pumps and masticulated the pneumatic phase shift depletor probes so it's only a matter of time before Colonel Anderson's crew has the Berkeley machinery back in tip-top shape.
I just wanted to fill people in in case they were wondering why Berkeley wasn't acceping completed wu's for a while this morning...
