Two new races start this morning featuring both some old and new faces.
The starter's pistol fires in the Rock 'em Sock 'em Workunit Wipe Out to 2000 and the throng of five veterans and one rookie break strongly out of the gate. Well, all but one breaks strongly out of the gate. Leading the pack as he sprints into the first turn, Spacehead sizzles with 14 after igniting the solid rocket boosters that give him a decided advantage off the launching pad. But following only one wu behind, whapping that bell for all it's worth, lobadobadingdong bell slams 13 wu's down the wu chute while his fan following in the stands pound their souvenir miniature lobadobadingdong bells in unison, driving everyone else nuts in the process. Settling into the three hole at 12 is none other than Captain CAD, back from the Lonely Racers bracket and leading Team Basilisk420 with a steady hand. Shim Shim Shimmishim gets his shim caught briefly in the wu roller gear on the outside port pre-munch inductor reducer valve on his racing rig, making his start just a tad slow with nine, not to mention a bit painful. :Q Jumping out of the gate with five is the racing rookie and decorated veteran of the AnandTech Off-Topic Wars, Ameesh, who is currently in the process of relocating his command base. And still in the starters gate is the Portly Bovine BigFatCow, grazing away as if absolutely nothing is going on. <PA System> Hey! Somebody poke the cow! </PA System>
Our second new race features two grizzled veterans and a plethora of rookies. Dubbed the 1500 WU Power Pack Packet Pounder, this should be an interesting contest to say the least. Breaking quickly out of the gate, Major Tom Tarca lays waste to 25 workunits to own the number one spot by three. Following closely behind Major Tom at 22 is Terrible Teriba. Like all good race veterans, Teriba and Major Tom head to the front of the pack and let the rookies bump and jostle for position to their rear. cismaxz leaves the carcasses of 22 workunits steaming under his rigs while his fans try like heck to chant his name but can't manage much more than an unintelligable mumble because of the odd collection of consonants in his moniker. 17 is the number left in the pile behind Fast Fingers' rigs as he settles into the four hole and Neurodog spits out five to land in fifth place after one day of racing. And SRL medics rush onto the track to tend to DDad who got knicked by the poorly aimed shot from the starter's pistol. Good luck, gentlemen!
