Lobadobadingdong Bell keeps whacking his SETI bell with a hammer in the 750 WU Master Muncher Marathon, exceeding the pre-race entrance requirement of eight wu's per day on nearly every day since the race began. Today, another double-digit dinger hits Berkeley's wu receptacle from lbdbdd's maniacal munching machinery to strengthen his hold on the lead position, building the margin to 35 over the second place racer. For his part, Powerful Pyxis has lived up to his name, also exceeding the eight spot daily tally on most days. Unfortunately for the Powerful Pyxis camp, lbdbdd's strong showing is making it difficult to hang with the leader. ManWithPlan is beginning to move up on the outside, cracking double-digits and narrowing the gap to the two hole to 14 and putting some pressure on Pyxis's patootie. Meanwhile, Bullet BobTheWizard is fading fast and GasPath2 continues to sputter and pass gas from the rear position.
In what has been a thriller from the get-go, the Whack 'em Smack 'em 2000 Packet Pulverizer remains a crowd-pleaser, entertaining the fans in the stands from top to bottom. The real action at this juncture is occurring in the middle of the pack where gistech1978 and AstIsis are embroiled in a heated battle for the number three position. Gaining on AstIsis on nearly a daily basis, gistech has closed the gap to seven on the strength of a 27 wu bracket leading purge. If our racing lady has a super secret weapon, now would be a good time to use it. Captain Kewlie rumbles the bracket in the 2000 WU Bump and Dump, sliding a nifty 61 wu purge down the wu chute from the second position. While it may be too late to catch the red hot Minnie Minendo, it solidifies his hold on second place over a slightly struggling SoulAssassin.
In the 5000 WU Eat My Dust Derby, the Rebel Alliance continues to flex their hyper-drive muscle, snapping off 167 workunits to extend their lead to 568 as they near the half-way point of the race. Rockin' Robor maintains his strangle-hold on the two hole, widening the gap between himself and Stone Cold Crazee as the pack begins to spread out. While the pafster throttles back and settles into cruise control in the lead position in the Funky Bunch Packet Mauler to 5000, the rest of the pack jostles for position to his rear. CraigRT, the racer formally known as Yield, flexes his well developed dumping muscles and squeezes out a heavy duty 62 wu pile to soar passed the psychadelic funky bus and into second place. In the true spirit of SETI sportsmanship, CraigRT cups his left hand in his right armpit and flaps his right arm vigorously, giving Captain Funky the traditional SRL salute on the way by. Meanwhile, from the rear of the pack, Jolly JonB explodes with a 64 wu tally to lead the pack and let Sizzlin' Soni know that there's a whole lotta jolly ready to explode on top of his head should he falter.
