SETI: Quick query and an Apple Mac

I really ought to bookmark the link to the SETI WU time calculator, but I've got to ask: what is the site?

I need WU times for:
AMD K6-2 350 - 128mb
Intel Celeron 400 - 128mb
As I have them lying around not running - and they could be. Now none of you start and say that WU times are irrelevant, they should be cracking anyway - I have co-exist in this room with my machines, so extra noise is not wanted, but I could put up with it if it was worth it WU wise 😉

I have a 'spare' (ie: picked up as junk) Apple II ci here, FYI it runs at 25mhz. Is there any way for me to use it? Obviously WU times are going to be a joke. Is there a Mac SetiQueue? (other ideas (like a paperweight) are also welcome - make me laugh!! 🙂)

Many thanks 🙂

I found a SETI WU calculator here. Don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for or not, but it did a good job of predicting times for my 1200MHz. Tbird (5hr 42min). According to the calculator, the times for the Celeron would be about 14-15hrs. and about 27-28hrs. for the K6-2.

There's no way you're going to use that Apple for SETI. There is a SETI client for Mac, but it won't support any version of the OS that would run on that IIci. Even if you could use it, it probably wouldn't be worth the cost of the electricity. I'd either see if there was any market for the thing (or maybe for the parts?) or just keep it around as a window to the beginning of mass personal computing. 🙂

Good luck!
Nick

It's in my help thread.

BTW, I don't think that site is real accurate. I remember one time I changed the FSB speed or something all around, and it didn't change the WU time at all. 🙁

I don't think there are any Mac SETIQ versions. You'd need to get TCP/IP installed on that IIci and then get it on a LAN and install a client if you can find one.
