im running a private queue for the members of my small seti group and am running into an issue that i was wondering if anyone could assist me with troubleshooting. i have 2 users on 56k dialup connections and the server uploads to them are horribly slow and the dos window seems to just sit at 240k downloaded and does nothing after that. if you close the window and try to transmit again it just seems to do the same thing and hangs for awhile then tries to throughput more of the unit but it never completes. the users are using the 3.03 cli and 3.08 cli respectively. if anyone can help or tell me if i have a setting wrong in my server setup it would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds more like an internet connection problem more than anything else. I know of no setting that would cause such a behavior.

Can the CLIENTs go directly to Berkeley for their WUs without difficulty?

Have them try that and see if the problem is on their end.
 
Some of my work computers do this. Others work fine, if I leave them alone, they eventually finish.
 
they can connect directly to the berkeley server with no issues. uploading a finished unit isnt a problem at all (to my queue), just the download. i guess ill just tell them to have it sit there and see how long it really takes for the entire thing to download. ill report back with what i find out. thanks for the posts!
 
Have you thought about joining Anandtech? Your group could join as a miniteam like the miniteam I'm a member of The Rebel Alliance.
 
yeah just a small bunch of crunchers so no website. actually i have considered joining team anandtech but like assimilator said, im founder and i cant bail on my group. 🙂 all i know is that i hope SETI I keeps on rolling for a few more months because i would like to get as many of my teammates over 1000 units, get myself to the top 1% of crunchers and in the process find et. ok the last part wont happen but i love crunching and im a stats geek. btw, thank you to all of you who have even bothered to post at all, anandtech is the best tech forums out there and i love posting here! thanks to you all!

this seemed to work. i just let them sit there for a bit and it went through. i dont know why it hangs (sometimes it does it on my dsl and t1 connections as well). thanx for the tip!
