SETI Queue as a Service

Has any set up SETI Queue as a Service? I did not want to have to set up an automatic login to W2K Advanved Server.

There is a command line switch that will install it as a service. I don't remember exactly what it is, and I'm not where I can check. Someone will be by who knows, or check the documentation. or try -? or /? to see if it has help. 😀

Taken from the Seti Queue site:

<< Once you have performed the normal SetiQueue install, you can run it as a service by performing the following:

Run "setiqueue -i" to install as a service
In Windows/NT 4.0 go to the Control Panel->Services function. In Windows 2000 go to the Control Panel->Admintrative Tools->Services function. Edit the start properties of the setiqueue service to be what you want, and start the setiqueue service.
Do not set the service to interact with the desktop. When SetiQueue is used as a service is expects to run in the background and does not enable any of it's user interface functions.
To uninstall, stop the service, and run "setiqueue -u".

Before starting SetiQueue as service be sure to run the application interactively once and set the port # for the SetiQueue Queue Server, and the HTTP administration password.

The service install works great! 🙂 Just remember to set the password so you can change settings, flush, etc. from a web browser.

Thanks, guys.

I am trying to get written permission to set up SETI on the pc's at my work. There are approximately 250 ranging from PIII - 500 and up. Most of the OS's are W2K Professional with a smattering of NT 4.0 Workstation. My supersivor is keen on the idea but he is running it though his boss, the legal department and human resources as well.

That would be awesome if you could do that! 😀

Talk to Shuxclams about our SETI LAN install. If you used that you could install SETI on all the computers remotely. 🙂 You can also set it to only run at certain times of the day.
