SETI Question: Why does the cmdline client generate traffic?

I noticed when the cmdline client runs and you watch your network traffic for your PC, it generates
as much traffic as it processes.

I stumbled on this when looking at a work station and found the amount of sent traffic to be HUGE!
(Several SETI work units over time)

Did anyone else know about this or is this just old news??

I'll have to break out the network analyzer and findout if it's SETI Driver or
something else causing it.
