SETI question on VLAR Work Units

I moved one cow back over to TA Seti for now, an XP1700 on Win 2000, so I should make a dent in my average work unit times. 😉

It's using Shux's Seti Queue so I can get those wonderful stats! 🙂

Anyway, I seem to recall a concern over sending Windows clients VLAR work units because they took longer to process, thus hurting our stats. Since Seti Queue can redirect VLAR units to other platforms that do not have issues, should I have Shux make this change?

Thanx

There is a discussion of VLARs Here

Look for Confused and Assimilator1 posts further down the page.

Basically, Win9x PCs take a hit, some hit with Win2K & XP, but not nearly as much as earlier versions of Windows, and Linux does even better.

Hmmm, just what I wanted to know from Assimilator1.

Nicely explained Confused(copied for future use) ,1 thing I will add though is that the hit to vlar WU times to WinXP & Win2k is far less than Win95,98 & ME. eg on Win98se with Ath XP I used to get about 3hrs30mins for an av AR WU, & upto about 5hrs with a vlar WU! ,with Win2k I got about 3hrs 25mins for an av AR WU & a max of 3hrs 50mins with a vlar WU

Since I'm using Win 2000 the hit is minor, so I won't be concerned with it

Thanks Ray!
