Seti queue keeps dropping work units from my clients and i cant work out why, 3 of them are uploading about 10 wu's a day but only 2/4 of those make it to team stats. Why is this? I have a cache of ten wu on each machine but even before i used this seti q i had no trouble with a 20wu cache....my stats are dropping like brick whats going on?

If you look at my SetiQueue's history, you will see that some of yours are highlighted Red, and clicking on them gives the message Result Dropped, Program Modified.

You might want to try deleting the whole Seti directory on the systems, and starting again, and see if that fixes the problem. Sometimes things get in a mess, and that's the quickest way to get round it.

It only seems to happen when i increase my cache size, im thinking it maybe because the wu become over due and the obsolete, ive reduced the cache size so i will see what happens. Also just installed a new cpu so seti has gone down on main rig as per usual so that needs a new install.
PAIN!!

WU's do not become obsolete.
They may lose their scientific value if held too long, but you should get credit for every one you return(unless it's a duplicate).

He's talking about what SETIQ does with WUs not S@H ;)

If SETIQ does not recieve the results from given WUs in a certain amount of time then it assumes they are lost & info about that WU is deleted. However that doesn't mean if it is returned latter on that the results isn't valid. Its mainly for SETIQ stats.

Hi guys thought i would give all an update on the situation. As of yet it is still happening, after several reinstalls of the clients and seti queue (Including wiping all WU) and Garry wiped my seti queue from his server then reinstated it but still no change. Ive decided that enough is enough and i emailed seti about it

IM having a problem with my seti WU being dropped by the Berkeley Server. About half of completed WU when uploaded get dropped. I run Seti Client on 3 computers and seti queue on one (an XP server) this queue then connects to another queue to download wu. I have have tried reinstalling seti queue, all clients (Including removing all traces of the program) and the second public seti queue has also deleted my account and deleted all WU. I have also tried downloading/uploading WU directly from the Berkely server, each time the majority (If not all) my WU are dropped. I estimate the loss to be heading up for 50 wu now. Is this a known problem, is there something i'm missing? Thanks for the help.

and i am now awaiting a response. If i cant get it sorted..then well i guess...is the SOB team looking for new members?;)

As Mikee has said, I have deleted ALL traces of his user, and queued WUs from my Setiqueue, he has deleted the whole installation of SetiQueue, as well as Seti on all his machines, and still it is dropping the Work Units.

I am totally lost, and as I have been helping with this problem, I'd like to know also what's going on! :) I'm pretty sure my setiqueue is ok, as others are uploading/downloading WUs just fine from it.

Otherwise, Mikee, the SOB team is ALWAYS looking for and welcoming new members!! :);)

I may not have a grasp on what?s going on here but I?ll throw out this thought. It is possible that one or more computers are overclocked to the point where they are sending in garbled results.

If one was using just the CLI Client or SetiDriver, one would never know that Seti@Home was rejecting the WUs. SetiQueue, however, keeps up with WUs that are rejected by Seti@Home and therefore makes the situation stick out like a sore thumb.

I believe when you see a WU result in SetiQueue that has that reddish hue color, it may indicate a DUP but it also may indicate a rejected WU for other reasons, such as ?Result Dropped, Program Modified?.

moonshinemadness, are your computer(s) heavily overclocked?

Smokeball Thanks, none of the machines are overclocked at all, all stock speeds and at the moment its both my windows 98 machines that the results are being dropped from, not the XP server, admittidley i may have missed it before when not using seti queue but before i installed seti queue i was uploading 9-10 a day then it went down to 4-5.
Assimilator1 I hope so, i have firewalls and virus scanners running on the server (Not on the clients though....) and my last virus was found 5 weeks ago.

Basically im hanging up my seti cap now, it seems my problem cannot be overcome. I am now donning an SoB cap (just downloaded the first client :D) and unless seti@berkeley get back to me with an answer i will be removing seti from my systems :(

I thought something odd was going on!
Sorry to hear that I was right:( ,but at least your on track to get it sorted:).
I hope you give SETI 1 last go before you give up on it ;)

Wierd that the viruses damage SETI results!

Someone sent me an email with a suspicous attachment the other day ,not knowing what the .zip attachment was at the time I left it saved on my HDD but did nothing else.Today I read in a magazine about a 'new' virus & sure enough its the Sobig virus!

I have had this problem at work. Due to a virus 10% of the results were rejected by Berkeley but accepted by setiqueue... I lost more than 300 WUs before I found that it was due to a virus... :( I now have installed an antivirus program on the clients... ;)
