Hi Guys, a few problems with seti at the mo, i have two WU on the laptop that wont upload saying it cant connect to teh server and that a .sys file isnt there( something like findnameserver...i cant remember off hand) , i have tried both the main seti server and Confused's seti queue. Also my main rig is uploading ok but takes a very long time to download the WU if it manages at all. Whats going on is it a problem at my end? Thanks

Can the laptop get onto the internet normally?

Can it reach the Seti main server or my server via Internet Explorer (or whichever browser you're using)

Next thing would be to try completely deleting the directory (as you have no WUs downloaded already), and re-download all the programs again (Seti CLI, SetiDriver etc), and try again. Sometimes there is just a "bug" or something that messes things up, and it's just quicker to purge the directory and start again, esp if it's a first time setup 🙂

Ok the problem i get is 'Get host by name: File not found' i have 20 wu downloaded 2 of thos have been processed (Quite a feet on a 266 processor) it logs onto the net fine and i can surf and everything, id rather not delete and start again because it took 40 hours to process thos two wu😉 ill try accessing thru IE. Thanks

EDIT: It will get onto your site through ie fine, guess it must be a bug, do i have to delete EVERYTHING oir can i just reinstall the program leaving the WU's where they are? Thanks

Firewall?

It didn't seem to be able to map my DNS name to my IP address. It's now using my IP address directly, and connecting, for whatever reason! But, it's only Seti that wouldn't get through!

Its done it on my main rig now..some what taking the p*ss ill leave it and then try it with the IP, maybe its my ISP being tempremental...somewhat strange though!

EDIT: Working again on the main server...guess its hit and miss, thanks again!

Most likely a main DNS server somewhere between you and Confused is not updating...........this then compounded with Confused on a dynamic IP and thus confusing your client even more.
I'd stick with the IP addy and try the name again in about three days as that is usuall the max it takes to propagate.....unless the server has gone bad 🙁
