Ok, I want to assimilate a friend's computer. He runs Windows XP - and when no one is on they log off. So question...if I have it run on his user name will it continue to run even if another user is logged in? Can someone tell me the best way to do this?

A couple of our members have Windows 2000/XP service installs, that will have it crunching in the background no matter what. I am not sure who has what though, so I will let them answer. The answer will come, though! :D

Yeah, the service installs wont' really work as I can't get over there and he's not the most computer savy.

Quick question about the flex installer. After it reboots what do you have to do to get it to start up?

Even if it isn't a flex install, you can still do a "change user" and get back to the login screen, without being logged out. This eats up memory because of the running instances of some Windows core software, but it keeps all programs from that user alive and well.

The FlexInstaller installs the client as a service so it will run as long as the computer is on, whether anyone is logged in or not. Also, I just finished (and passed!!!!) a big test at school, so I will have a nice break to work on the installer...so the next version should be out in a couple days and will have extended maintenance/uninstall:)Q) abilities, multiple cpus over the LAN, work unit caching and viewing work unit progress of the local machine and/or all the LAN boxes.

The test I took was Microsoft's 70-176 Designing and Implementing Desktop Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, and in about a week and a half I am taking Designing Distributed Apps, working towards my MCSD.

bot2600: Congrats on passing the test! We all look forward to the next flex installer.

BTW, I've used it at work already.

Thanks for the hard work!

I know alot of people are not impressed with the certs any more without all of the "paper" certified people nowadays, but I figure it is better than nothing. At the moment, I am 2 tests away from MCSE, one test from the new MCSA, 3 tests from MCSD, and one test from MCDBA. I want to be a programmer, but I want to have a good understanding of some of the underlying principles of why my programs work.don't work, so I am going the long road to get there;)

It shows in your work Bob. :) The FlexInstaller is pretty damn slick in comparision to the other "scripts" we're all used to. :)
