Seti on a laptop?

It will likely whack them batteries pretty good.

My Armada laptop (Celery 400 - yawn) blows at SETI. It did a passable job on RC5, but same battery results. I'm letting the old boy retire from DC projects. He served us well.

Yes, it does give the batteries a hammering.

You might want to think about running it on a ramdisk, this would probably help a bit.

cheers,

Col

Yep. I run it on my A21P-850 and on batteries w/o SETI i can average almost 4 hours on it. With SETI running i'm lucky enough to hit an hour and a half on it.

And that's with Speedstep running.

SETI nukes my battery in about 30 minutes. 🙁

One good thing about the DNet client is that is does not crunch when on batteries. I wish SETI would implement something like that.
