I've decided to do a Part II to the contest. Check the new subcriber thread.

For non-subscriber.

If you hang out in ATOT, please give it a bump! :)

NOTE: Current SETI folks can participate! So, if you want another SETI cruncher, then this is one way to do it! :) \

Link to contest Setup Info! With thanks to Travis! :)

Adam,

After you download the first WUs let me know and I'll assign a port to you so I can track all your systems in one locations, or even if you only have one it will be cleaner.

Last thread was dumped before I got an answer to my question.....
Do you want us to download under your seti login or just use your queue?

Not sure I understand a couple of things... Do you want contestants to run the cli under your login or do you want use to just upload all work through you Queue?

:)

This is the response from the other thread...It is still up, but things drop fast in OT! Links to that thread are at the top of this thread.

5..All submitted Work Units must be sent through my SETIQueue.
....It will be responsible for keeping track of contest progress.
7..WUs must be submitted using my ID, as explained in the instructions

Guess I could combine those two items to make it more clear. You would have to do both. I want credit in order to rise in the ranks which is why I'm giving away the computer and SetiQueue is used to keep track of progress.

ALERT!!

Make sure you have plently of WUs in your queue and watch this thread for instructions!

We are moving this weekend. I have made plans for Comcast to get the cable turned on at the new place on Friday, 5/16, the day we close on the new house. I bought another cable modem so that I can have stuff running at both locations. BUT, I can't be sure Comcast will do what I asked. The IP address will change. I will get a box running at the new location and notifly you what the new IP address is. Then I will move the box with the queue. Since this will happen over the weekend some of you will have work boxes that could run out of WUs.

If this all blow up on me, (let's hope not!) then I will award the computers based on the standings at the time I turn off SetiQueue at the old house. We have to be out of here by sometime Sunday

The comcast guy just left AND IT IS WORKING! Incredible!

Here is what I got on the bandwidth test:

Communications = 2.7 megabits per second
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000.
Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet

Storage = 328.3 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how file sharing and FTP programs measure transfer speeds.
Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.

1MB file download = 3.1 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.

I was getting 1.6 megabits at the other house! :D

I am about to pull the plug and move the computers. SetiQueue should be down at least an hour.

The new IP address is : 24.92.145.24

Wish me luck! I am already beat from 2 days of moving.

Well, it is up and running! :):):)

The IP addy is as I stated, but I had to clone the MAC address of the machine that was connected to the cable modem to get it to work.

OK, so it took closer to 2 hours! But, I did it!

G19 let me know which computer you want and PM me your mailing address. The computer can go out Monday if you get the info to me. RavenHare PM me with your address and I'll ship the 2nd computer to you.

The boxes have shipped and PMs sent with tracking numbers.

Matt selected the 1GHz Althlon, so Don (RavenHare) got the other system.
