SETI: Linksys router and SetiQueue...n/m...found it!!

Ok, folks, I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what.

I'm back on cable modem so I have my LinkSys router in place and have blocked most ports but setup a Port Forwarding entry for port 5517 to my SetiQueue server but I still can't hit it from my PC at work. I also setup 5517 as a UPnP enabled port and still no go.

My SetiQueue server used to be my Windows XP ICS server and it was multihomed and had the Microsoft Firewall stuff turned on, too, but all that is now turned off.

Help?

oooh... I was having problems too, but I got them resolved. I'll have to check tonight and let you know what my settings are! The good news is that it's doable! 🙂

can you get to another team SETIQ preferably with the same port id from the work PC?

check the linksys logs too (as little info as they provide)

Are you using a dynamic or static IP for your home Internet connection?

Are you using WinSock proxy to your home q? That's what I need to do from my work q to my home q which is behind the BEFSR41.

Ray, well, it's not a static IP per se, but it's been the same since the cable modem was installed. I keep an eye on it and I can easily change it if necessary.

Geoff, you mean in the SetiDriver settings on my work PC client?

I think so... whatever is trying to connect to your q. That's what I needed to set my q at work to to get it to talk to my home q through a firewall at work and through the router at home.

Do you give it a username/pwd? or leave those blank?

The only password I have is the one to get into the router's config and then the one for SetiQueue but neither of those would be what SetiDriver wants. And I don't know if the Linksys BSFR41 (or something like that) does WinSock proxy?

I can see where my connection tried to connect in the incoming log file (I'm dialed up to MSN from the laptop and tried to send the WUs but no go)

hmmm...put the server in a DMZ thru Linksys setup and it still wouldn't connect. Something with Insight, perhaps?

🙁

Wouldn't think so as I can hit my SetiQueue's stats page with the IP address:5517 as the URL and it comes up fine.

Well, I lied...I could hit the setqueue stats page from work but not when I'm dialed into MSN...this is WEIRD!

EDIT: Ok...now I can see the SetiQueue stats page from my laptop dialed into MSN but still can't send WUs. 🙁

Ummm...n/m...

From the Public SetiQueue thread:

If you wish to allow people to connect from outside, set the Subnet Mask under Settings->Queue Server to 0.0.0.0. Setting this to 255.255.255.0 will only allow your internal network to connect.

oops!
