SETI - I wish there was a way to....

Merge all the inactives into one "garbage" account for each team. Not only would the stats be easier to pull and simpler to look at, but we'd get a better feel at how the top teams stack up against each other.

Heck, it might even be a good idea for Berkeley to dump WUs from people that have been inactive 6 or 12 months into a central garbage account. There's so many acounts that have zero or little WUs produced. But that's not gonna happen.

I've been wanting them to just pick a date on the calender and delete all of the accounts with ZERO in them! Can you imagine how many accounts that would wipe out?!? :Q

The SETI project might see it as taking away from their "total number of users" but everyone out there know how many inactive accounts there are, so at least doing this would give a REAL image of how involved people are with the project! 🙂 Not to mention how much more accurate and quick the stats runs would be! :Q There'd be ALOT less load on the stats servers by wiping out those ZERO accounts. 😉

We can purge our own rolls. I've done that before for ZERO accounts whose Seti E-mail Address were defunct. I think I proposed to delete all ZERO accounts after a three month period of inactivity, that didn't respond to one last e-mailing.

Note I said ZERO accounts. As long as anyone has even 1 WU, I think we need to keep them on the roles. Just my opinion.

There will be no action taken unless there appears to be a concensus. And a concensus is a hard thing to come by now-a-days. 😉

Taking into account the folks that have recently joined us (with zero units), I'm in favor of wiping out the other zero accounts that have been here longer than three months. 😉

So the numbers drop a little - at least the stats will reflect a more active user base. I can go out right now, sign up for 30 new Yahoo email addresses, sign 'em up on SETI, download a unit, never process any further, join TA, and it still won't mean anything.

Re: Berkeley - Why don't they keep a running total of people that have joined, but get rid of the accounts that have been inactive for a long time, or the ones that haven't produced anything at all?

Re: TeAm - Right now, at least two thirds of the team is inactive. And yes, I'm in favor of dropping the inactives with zero units too. I think that average production per member is a lot more impressive than the number of members.
