Never had to do this before. My email address is going bye bye. I have my seti password stored in several places so do I really need to change my address at Seti? If I do, do I need to reinstall seti on all of my machines with the new address?

I'm looking before I leap;)

Thanks

I have the same question. And you thought of questions I didn't think to ask until now!

I don't want to change because there are assimilations that I can no longer get to. I would hate to loose that production. On the other hand if I ever need something, I don't know what? I might be screwed if I don't change. I was hoping Seti would be done with before I had this problem!

One you have installed for the first time, all communication with the server is dealt with via your UserID. The email address is only something that is used for you to remember. You will be able to change your email address, and all the computers already running will be fine, any new ones will just use the new email address.

So, the quick answer is that it won't affect anything by changing your email address :)

Confused sounds like he knows what he is talking about. So you probably don't have any problem.

But, right now you can do an experiment to put your mind at rest.

Go ahead and change your Seti Email Address NOW and do the same on one or all of your personal machines. Watch what happens over the next few days or week. Do the remote computers continue to add to your production or is it only the computers you have changed the Seti Email? ;)

We did this last year when myself and Aiex started to use the same account, and changed the email address that we used. There were absolutely no problems with it, and we lost no production at all. If you want to check this out as Smokeball said, then sure :)

Also another thing to look at yourself, to make it more sure in your mind, is to open the user_info.sah file with Notepad or something, and look in there for your email address. Good luck finding it ;) All you will find is a 7, 8 or 9 digit (can't remember how much) number, which is your user ID. If you use a SetiQueue, then look on your user page, and you will find the same number listed there :)
