Currently I have a c566@832 and assuming i do not do any majot cpu intensive tasks, i can complete a WU in about 8hrs, so in a day thats 3..It would be intersting to know how many everyone else does, esp those with 500+.
thanks

My best machines are 4 processor Sparc450s.
Each processor does a WU in 6 hours.
So that's 16WU a day per machine.
I have 3 Sparc 450s..

With the rest of the herd on a good day I can do aound 140WU...

According to the my SETI stats, my P2 450 @504 can do a wo in 7h15 -8h15, so I`ll say I can do 3 WU`s a day, if I would uninstall Diablo 2! ;)

piii500 averages around 7h05m a WU
Pii350 averages around 9h22m a WU
Together I get about 6 WU a day

My best machine is a P3 650 @ 917.:)
It averages 5h00m53s, so that's almost 5 WU's a day.

The rest of my herd is a conglomeration of fast and slow PC's.
On a good day I can do around 150 WU's.:D

I submitted my results to Thunder, but they were never posted.

My best time is 5:39 for 600E@800, about 4 WU's/day.

i think im goin to set at least two more rigs up, but the prob is i only have a slow dial up conn....so how would i set up the network?? I ve set up a network on two before but never more than two. My guess that in at least two comps i would have to have two nics..right(sorry if thats seems to obvious :) ) How would i set this up, does anyone have any tips, or any informative websites. The obvious reason i would want to do this becaz i would need the conn to get new WU's, or is there anyway i can transfer new and completed WU's from machine to machine?
thanks

The best way to do it is to buy a small network kit..
These are around £35 ($50 ??)..
You get a couple of NICs, an 8/10 port hub and some cables..
It's really easy to set up in windows, just give each machine a different IP address, make the one with the modem the default router for the others.
Then install SETIQ on the one with the modem.

When you need some actual help, post here and I'm sure we'll be able to sort you out...

cheers,

Col.

Errrrr,

sort of, the Sparc 450s have 400Mhz Ultra SparcII processors..
Doesn't sound fast but these bunnies have 8MB L1 cache...

Don't know if Sun are making faster processors yet but imagine an 800MHz one of them.. You could do WUs in under 3 hours...

imhot - You could also just buy 2 NIC's (about $10 each) and a cross-over cable...a bit cheaper for only 2 PC's. If you go the hub route, you can find a cheap 8 port 10Mbs hub for about $30.

Celeron 433 that takes 23 hours for some unknown reason. 1 WU/day. :)

The speed of the cache of the Celeron II is the exact same speed as the origional Celeron. I think the C2 might have a little bit more bandwith though..

One of our other members (Office boy) discovered this some time ago & was most annoyed that his new cpu was no faster!!

There was an entire thread about it ,I'll see if I can post the url for it here in a bit.
But basically it came down to the these things.

Same FSB (near enough)
Same L2 cache size
Crippled bus between the L2 cache & the cpu

err ,BTW when my 366 is at 578MHz it does WU's in about 7.7hrs ;)

Is your RAM at CAS2?
