Wow!-Event 2019

42 years after the discovery of the Wow! Signal on August 15th, 1977, which was received from the direction of constellation Sagittarius, it is time to honor the mother of all BOINC projects.
Therefore SETI.Germany is calling for the 8th SETI@Home-Wow!-Event from 15.08.2019 to 29.08.2019.
Anyone, who wishes to participate, has to register on this site: https://www.seti-germany.de/Wow/register

Best regards

Is this a CPU or GPU (best efficiency) project. Maybe I should try one of my 3900x's ?

Mainly GPU.

I have an old optimized client, but I couldn't find a copy of it online anymore, so I'm not sure what the status of optimized clients is these days.

My core i5 coffee lake takes around 30 min. on Linux/opt.-app.
I see a i9-7900X on windows take a little over an hour.

Restorative? I wish. Although in these few weeks out, I feel like my handiness with this distributed computing thing has been restored to ~2016 levels.

Ouch. I was just at my setiathome user page and accidentally scrolled down to "Projects in which you are participating". My top RAC is in a project which is already dead and closed down...

@Terminator_1, @pons66, greetings to SETI.Germany, and thanks for the invitation!

Is this a CPU or GPU (best efficiency) project.
In this event we want to crunch what we can. Therefore, of course, the CPU should also count.
You are right in general. But if @Markfw switched everything on he's got, first the lights go dim in his neighborhood, and shortly afterwards the local substation goes up in flames. ;-)

Well, I am trying to register, but it keeps giving me error 1009 and says try later. I have been trying for hours.

Same here Mark, but then I rechecked my username and I needed to have a capital T.
So on BOINC, is that "account" the Seti name or user id ?

I figured it out ****** is my ID Why are they the only ones to have a dual setup ? name and ID ? anyway, I am signed up, there are 12 of us.I will have a 2060 working.

Edited out my ID in case that was a problem.

The name is not unique --- remember the Rosetta clones ---, but the ID is.
Perhaps they ask for the name in addition to the ID to prevent mistakes from typos.
