What the heck is my Seti User_ID? I've been putting in all kinds of numbers found on my account page without any luck. How many digits is it supposed to be?

Please provide your Seti User-Name: Smoke

Please provide your Seti User ID: ?????????????????

And thanks for the weekly stats, Tony. 🙂

Well, never mind ... I just saw my name listed? 🙄

On your account page, the upper part is account information, the 6th line is the Seti User ID, 5 or 6 digits ...

Not sure how this is going to look but below is a copy/paste of the top portion of my account:

Name Smoke

Email address xxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxx.com

URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/

Country United States

SETI@home member since 29 Apr 2001

Change email address . password . other account info

When I entered the "108", it came back as an error. When I tried some of the longer account numbers I got the same error message.

Right after I made the initial post on the sign up problem, I clicked on the link Tony provided to see the members of TeAm AnandTech that had signed up and lo and behold there was "Smoke"!

Since none of the attempts to sign up ended with anything but an error message I have no idea how I was actually added? Maybe some kind soul saw my plight and offered a bit of help? 😛

One of the perks of getting old. 😛😛😛😛

PS: Had to edit the copy/paste which ended up with a link to my Seti@Home email and password. Hopefully, the links didn't work for whoever may have read my post before I edited.

Smoke, just saw this, but yes, your current seti user id is 108. Which just confirms you ARE older than dirt....................... and older than me. :innocent:

I have not registered for WOW yet because I am seeing how long I can resist the urge......................

I'm in under QuietDad, which is what my forum name SHOULD be as my name is no where in my profile....
and you have been in each WOW event except 2015................
Ask the forum moderators to change your name to QuietDad..................

14 days of full blown CPU/GPU usage in the Summer.....I might have to pull the plug on the fleet (and only run FB Sprints) until then to be able to afford participating in this race. :/

Hi all,
it's 9 hours from now until the start of the event. If you haven't registered yourself yet, now is a good time. 🙂

You can still register anytime even during the event, but the sooner the better.

Your credits will be counted automatically for yourself and for the TeAm, provided that you joined the TeAm at our page at the SETI@Home web site.

Regarding bunkering. From https://www.seti-germany.de/Wow/64_en_FAQ.html
SETI.Germany's Wow!-Event FAQ said:
Every Tuesday Seti@Home has a weekly planned downtime. During this time no WU can be downloaded or returned. To bridge this time you can adjust your bunker to a suitable time level in the Boinc Manager. A maximum working buffer (bunker) of 10 days is possible.
Actually the S@H server lets each client hold at most 300 tasks in progress (edit: see post #53 for actual limits). This is far less than a day if you have graphics cards, or a server with lots of CPU cores.

I have a host with three fast GPUs. For now I run three client instances on it in order to have a queue of 900 instead of 300 tasks.

Initially I wanted to use client 0 to run 2 tasks on card 0, client 1 for 2 tasks on card 1, and client 2 for 2 tasks on card 2. I configured app_config.xml for 0.5 GPUs per task, and I added respective ignore_nvidia_dev entities to cc_config.xml. Unfortunately, the clients ignored GPUs but not the ones which I told them to. Therefore I changed configs so that each client is running 3 tasks now, 1 task per GPU per client. My cards are big enough that they don't bog down with 3 tasks per card. However, in the past I ran only 2 tasks per card which was already close to the throughput optimum.

Less than half an hour to go. After my stability test last night, I don't think to run my machine overnight anymore because my room became unbearably warm and I woke up earlier because of it. However, I will run it very early in the morning because air temperature in recent week is favourable at that time.

Time for the weekly SETI outage. I made it home from work just in time to watch the last of my GPU tasks finishing up on the original clients, and began work on the secondary clients. 😀 Third and Fourth clients standing by on Mjolnir (double 1080s), and clients 3,4,5,6, and 7 standing by on Thunder-Strike (quad 1080s). I didn't have the time/patience to add clients to the 1070 machines.

The three clients which run on my (currently only) host have circa 50, 250, and 250 tasks remaining, respectively. And 250 tasks (opencl_nvidia_SoG), 50, and 50 tasks (cuda42, cuda50) are ready to report. Obviously the different app versions caused the 1st client to go through its queue so much quicker than the other two clients. But even if the 1st client runs out of work before end of the outage, the other two will still feed the cards fully.

How many hours does this weekly downtime take?
