SETI@Home (Work for me) Question

Windogg

Lifer
Hi,

I guess it's time to do something other than RC5 so I'm gonna install the SETI@Home client on a few workstations. Only problem is how to connect to the SETI servers. We use a HTTP proxy which requires a password. The client only allows me to enter a password for SOCKS proxy. Any ideas or am I SOL?

Hi,

you should be able to use SETIQ to do this for you.

Install SetiQ on one of the Windows boxes.
You can then point it at the proxy and put your username/password in it's settings.

Then you point all of your S@H clients at the SetiQ box port 5517 (default).

It's a really easy install of both SetiQ and S@H.

let us know if you need any help,

cheers,

Col

SETIQueue does not appear to offer the correct proxy either. 🙁 I tried to connect but the proxy won't let SETI out of the office. 🙁 I might just run it locally on my laptop and queue WUs everynight from home.

Remember WU's are about 350 KB, so you'll want to use a Zip disk or CD-RW to transport them if you have more than a few machines running. The results are only about 3 KB though, so a floppy will work fine for them.

Windogg;

you can try to point it at the team Q if you want.
