btw, seti says I've my CPU time is 8 hrs but SETI Spy and the anandtech/seti page says I've donated 0 hours...what's happening?

Since you are so new and said you have 8 hours in there only, have you completed a work unit yet? If not, you won't show up until you do. And with that processor it should only be minutes before you do if you already have 8 hours invested 🙂

ack...I only have 43% done 🙁 but I think that's because I'm online, have 3 IE windows open, along with PSP6 and Winamp.
 
EmperorNero that shouldn't slow you down that much. I still get 6 hours even when playing mp3's and surfing, I've got 6 windows open right now. I'm sure the guys will help you get your time down. I just don't have time to help you right now or I would give you some tips. Sorry.🙁
 
EmperorNero, are you running the screensaver version? If so, make sure it's set to go to blank screen mode in less than 5 mins, or your work unit times will nearly double.
