From the Seti@home homepage:

"Windows users finding many copies of state.sah and key.sah on their computer: This is not a SETI@home bug but a virus ("hybris-b") that causes this behavior. Please download your latest anti-virus updates and disinfect your systems."

Wonderful... I have this and have never owned anti-virus software. Guess I'll have to live with it... :(

Well I did Mcafee's free online scan and CLIBENCH.EXE has the W32/Hybris.gen@MM virus. So anyone that downloaded clibench watch out!

I will try you link, Fingers, thanks

I was wondering why clibench wouldn't run anymore... :) It ran fine for a while, then one day nothing would happen when I'd run it.

why do people say reformat? people don't say "repaint the house" even though its usually the fact that you're painting over the old paint. idiocyncracies are funny.

yes you have the files, but do you have multiple state.sah and key.sah files on your pc?

Those 2 files are normal for seti, just not mutiple copies of them

Eltano1:

The virus doesn't come from S@H (at least I don't have it and neither does most of the others that run S@H) but it affects S@H :( Please reconsider your decision, as it isn't the seti peoples fault that you got infected with a virus that causes misbehavior of their client is it?!?

You should have 1 copy of state.sah & key.sah in the SETI directory ,BTW SETI is a victim of the virus & not the cause ,it would be a great shame to lose you just 'cos some low life has made a virus that copies SETI files :(.
I hope you stay with us & therefore don't score a little victory for the virus maker

I'm still here with you guys, just as no piss off as yesterday, I try to remove it from the C: drive, but since that piece of crap is in a zip folder in my restore\archive file I will hope that I will no need to open that is my pc crash.
I wasn't blaming anybody from the team, it was an expression of my anger about a low life using this project to do that crap, that's all.;)

Sorry, I was too harsh. I should say I'm just tired of innocent programs being blamed for viruses. The hybris virus spreads via e-mail attachments not seti or clibench. It just infects stuff because its a worm. Sometimes it takes a while to show up, becuase you usually have to restart your computer to complete the infection process. I you have hybris then somebody has opened and attachment on your computer.

Eltano, you need to get rid of that zip file that is infected. It's not a zip anymore. Its just a copy of hybris, so you might as well delete. Also both you guys (ben98sentrase and eltano) need to make sure you scan every single file not just certain file extensions. Hybris will hide everywhere, it also stores its plugins as random file names.

If you can't delete from windows do it from a dos prompt.
