I'm guessing that most who are not doing SETI do not read the daily stats thread. Hellburner posted the results below. Team Anandtech is now #16 and probably will be #15 by tomorrow.

We passed some Macs, now for the Swiss.

Don't mean to be ignorant..... but.... I have been cracking Seti for quite some time now. How do I join the Anand team... and can I apply my previous work done for Seti?

Thanks.

yeah, your Seti blocks are all sent to Team Anandtech if you haven't been on a team before, and have been running Seti.

Well hope it'll help....

I'll read the link.

Actually was tinkering with installing my own dish and hardware ($10,000 worth of fun)....
but still looking for the parts. Found everything but one part.... it looks like it is not going to be made any longer either.... I'll figure something out though.

Anyway... thanks.

Actually, with SETI@Home, your blocks go where you go. Once you switch teams, the team you left loses the blocks and the team you join gains the blocks.

Step 4 on the link is the key.

Setting up your own dish is hardcore!

and hey, if you think searching for aliens is dumb cuz aliens don't exist or something, run it to cast further doubt on aliens! (besides, if we found aliens they'd probably just come here and rape our horses and ride off on the women... or was that the other way around?)

Everyone should keep in mind that there is also a Team AnandTech at Distributed.net. Personally, I think Distributed.net is a better use of idle processor time than that SETI thing. Distributed.net's projects have real-life scientific benefits, but what would SETI accomplish? Are you really that excited about discovering a radio signal from a distant alien's planet? What good is that?

owensdj - We're all members of Team Anandtech and there is a gentleman's agreement not to try to promote one project over the others, espeically on another project's thread. I personally feel that proving that aliens exist will have profound consequences on the entire world, but that's just my opinion.

I've done close to 750K of Rc5 and over 1K WU's of SETI. I like SETI better, but I support the team as a whole.

LOL ,I think you right 1st time round ;)

>>>>Distributed.net's projects have real-life scientific benefits<<<<
Which projects are you referring to?

>>>>>Are you really that excited about discovering a radio signal from a distant alien's planet? What good is that? <<<<<

Are you telling us that IF a signal was proved 100% to be of alien origin you wouldn't bat an eyelid?:Q ,I doubt that very much :p;).
BTW ,think about it ,a confirmed alien signal would have many philisophical (spelling?) consequences at the very least, answering the 'are we alone' question would also throw up further questions ,how advanced are they? could we regularly converse with them? how different are they to us? are they friendly! etc, get the idea? :)

As for which project to run ,each to there own ,lets try to avoid putting down other projects :)

The next few teams will be tough. Come on over to the Distributed Computing forum and find out how you can help Team Anadtech rise to be #1!
