SETI@Home Set-Up Errors...

I get this when trying to install BOINC as a service.

"Failed to be able to optain the SID for the selected user on the localhost."

Then I get this one when I try again.

"Error 1920. Service BOINC (BOINC) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Hmm, don't remember this error-message, so can only guess on what the problem is...

The service-installation doesn't work if you're using blank password.
On upgrading, it's possible old service was not fully deleted, uninstalling followed by re-booting before new installation should normally fix this problem.
Haven't tested, but maybe it's only working if you're using an account with admin-privileges... If you've got multiple admin-accounts, try with another...

Atleast some of the alpha-builds had serious install/uninstall-problems, so if you've ever installed v5.5.xx, you've maybe screwed-up something...

This is my first ever install of BOINC, no upgrade. I tried to give it a name and a password for access, and my account has Admin privileges.

The name should already be filled-in, it's normally only needed to type-in the password twice...

Also, the username is on the form COMPUTERNAME\username, so if you're trying to change this to only username it's a likely reason for problem...
