I just downloaded ver.3.07,I plan to run it constantly anything i need to know/tips??I hear about teams and hacks what is that?

Glad to have you join the SETI PROJECT, saftey. 🙂

The version of SETI that you downloaded and are now using is known as the GUI CLIENT. It has a really nice screen saver that is just fascinating to watch. After you tire of it you might want to consider changing over to the CLI CLIENT which doesn't have the pretty graphics but runs SETI almost twice as fast.

Checkout IJump's sig line link Team AnandTech SETI and you will find directions to get the CLI CLIENT going. /It's in my sig area too. 😉

But do enjoy the GUI for the time being. 🙂

/and we'd love to have you on our team. 😀

Welcome! to SETI! saftey! 😀

Feel free to post any questions you have! 🙂

Hang out here, check out the team. If you see what you like (we have a great group of people here 😉), feel free to join Team Anandtech! 😀

Not sure about the hacks, but you can run SETI as an individual, or you can join a team. There are a lot of teams around, and Team Anandtech is one of the top teams in the world. A lot of us are into stats, and friendly competition, so the teams are a way of competing to see who can outproduce the other. 🙂

In fact, we sometimes group Team Anandtech members into small teams, and race each other, with plenty of trash talking banter included. 😀

And we even like to race each other, check out OhioDude's Race Page (sub) Race Page (nonsub)

😀

Since you ask us, it leaves you no choice but to join Team Anandtech. There's no free lunch, you know. 😉

Welcome to the Seti project and hopefully welcome to the best dasm Seti TeAm in the universe 😀

Thanks alot guys 🙂 im waiting for it to finish this job.I've left the computer on for 10 hours and it reads 0 data units completed,This is with the computer being unused and the exe being minimized. When its done I'm going to sign up with you guys.I'd sign up now if it would let me continue where I left off im at 17 percent.

17% after 10 hours is very bad. You may want to check your power saving options and make sure that "turn off hard disks" is set to never, since having this option turned on can really slow down your times. Also setting the client to run always, turning off the screen saver, adjusting your RAM's CAS setting to 2, or switching to the commandline client can speed up your times. As an example of some times my Pentium 2 400 averages 13hr/WorkUnit. my Pentium 3 933@1000 averages 6.25hr/WU, and my Athlon XP 1800+ gets about 4hr/WU.
