I'd definitely like to make my computer a little more useful and lend it to SETI or Folding@home, however I'm a bit wary of doing so. I've personally seen someone fry their Pentium 4 from it running at 100% for weeks at a time (this was like 3 years ago). My CPU is currently OCed and runs fairly warm (tops out at around 65 C under Orthos)

What I'm wondering is if it's safe to run these programs these days. I'm sure they work a bit differently than they did years ago. And maybe someone frying their chip by it running at full load after a month or two is a freak occurence. If someone could set me straight on these things I'd appreciate it.

There's people that have run their CPUs at 100% for years on end (me included) with no ill effects. Go for it.
