Seti@home 3.03?

Hi,

i have a new system now (C2D) and would like to see how it performs compared to my P4 and Thunderbird systems in S@H.

Back when i was an active TeamAnandrech assimilator i used WinNT client 3.03 and a test WU you could download from TeamLambChop for benchmarks.

I have the WU, but i cannot seem to find the old 3.03 client...

Can anybody help me out here?

Thanks

Just tried to send this off with my Gmail account, but it won't allow executables. Can i rename it or would that screw things up?

edit-
N/M, sent

When I upgrade to C2D in a few months I plan to do the same🙂

BOINC S@H is useless for benchmarking AFAIK........though I did ask about to see if it was possible to grab a typical WU......can't remember the answer now😱

Let us know what results you get.
Btw my creaking old XPM @2.5GHz managed about 2hrs 5mins for an average WU

He couldn't run it because you need more than just the benchmark WU. You need some of your '.sah' files to run a WU & he didn't have any.
Does anyone remember which ones you need?

These are the ones found in a typical file:
outfile.sah
pid.sah
version.sah
user_info.sah
lock.sah
key.sah
result_header.sah
state.sah
work_unit.sah

'result_header.sah' & 'state.sah' need to be deleted to run the benchmark WU, & obviously you need to then add the benchmark 'work_unit.sah'.

LOL, i still have some of this stuff now that i've looked better

Thanks, Spacehead, for these posts. They certainly bring back memories of times gone by - and often they were quite frustration times, and often just grand times. 😀

I've still got a fully functional 3.03 CLI client if you need any files🙂

I guess 1 core of a C2D@ ~2.5GHz will do a WU in about 1hr 😉

Assimilator was so kind to provide me with the necessary files, and i want to share my findings with you 🙂

E4300@3.3GHz, 413 MHz FSB, DDR2@826MHz

I could get it stable at about 3700@1.6V with temps in the low 70's, maybe i will rebench later.

2 clients running, each finished in 50 minutes 😀

That would be around 57WUs per day from a single machine...man, i remember those "Thunderbird" times when i assimilated all computers at my work on weekends and was thrilled about getting over 30 WUs on those days...this was on 10+ pcs though 😉

BTW my recent pcs finished in around the following time (when i am not totally off here):

P2@266 20+ hours
Celeron@533 12+ hours
Thunderbird@1533 6+ hours
P4@3300 2 hours

That sounds better 🙂

I'll have to look again at BOINC SETI to see if it can be WU benchmarked
Now where's RD when you need him? 😉
